Tomorrow, I plan to organize my comics. I bought these dividers where I can write The Archie section, B&V Section, Reggie & Me Section etc. It's going take a long time.

1. Did you get the white cardboard ones or the plastic ones? If you got the cardboard ones you can just print the names of the comic titles neatly, but if you got the plastic ones it's better to use one of those label-making machines to make them look really professional (just like in a comic shop with back-issue bins). The label-making machines are not that expensive, so it's not a bad idea if you plan to use divider cards to organize your whole collection.

2. Do you have a lot of issues of Reggie & Me (or are you just talking about the New Riverdale 5-issue miniseries)?

3. Have you ever noticed a regular artist, or one particular artist who appears on Reggie & Me stories more often than others? I've always wondered about that. Assuming, that is, that you're familiar enough with the different artists' styles to be able to identify them by sight, because I know back in the 60s/70s/80s when Reggie & Me was being published they didn't have credits on the stories. I don't have a lot of those issues myself.

The only character on that cover I don't recognize is the little girl with brown hair and a topknot wearing a purple swimsuit on a purple raft... actually, she looks a lot like Jellybean!

It's pretty obvious from his numerous parodies of them (DKD has more than a few) that Dan loves the Harvey Comics characters.

Now that I stop to consider it, I just realized that Dan Parent is now solely responsible for defining an entire genre of comics all by himself. He's currently being published in NINE different titles, and doing the writing, art and covers for all of them:

1.  ARCHIE COMICS DOUBLE DIGEST
2.  ARCHIE'S FUNHOUSE DOUBLE DIGEST
3.  BETTY & VERONICA DOUBLE DIGEST
4.  B & V FRIENDS DOUBLE DIGEST
5.  JUGHEAD & ARCHIE DOUBLE DIGEST
6.  WORLD OF ARCHIE DOUBLE DIGEST
7.  LIFE WITH KEVIN (digital only)
8.  YOUR PAL ARCHIE
9.  DIE KITTY DIE (AstroComix/Chapterhouse)

-- plus he still has a boatload of Kickstarter commissions to draw for the last DKD campaign. You could say he's "kind of busy" ... Now granted, none of those titles are monthly, and only a few of them have more than 5 pages + cover that he's responsible for. But even so, over the last year or so he's drawn 240 pages of digest stories plus 48 covers, 4 issues of LIFE WITH KEVIN plus covers, and 8 issues of DIE KITTY DIE plus covers (and is still working on Summer and Winter Specials for DKD).

Okay, he's even busier than I thought. Dan Parent is also doing the cover and some interior pages for HARVEY HITS #4 (to be published by JoeBooks in August), so that's 10 titles. Not sure if Dan had any stories in the previous 3 issues (HARVEY HITS #1 ships next week).

So if They either Kill Reggie or Betty, so we never see them again in Archie comic again right? I think it could be Betty. Because Archie looks like he is crying on the cover. He wouldn't cry over Reggie.

I certainly could see Archie crying over Reggie for one reason, if nothing else: Guilt about his role in his death....

Neither.

It seems like they had high hopes for a rebooted Reggie, which didn't pan out in terms of sales, if the quick demotion of his intended-to-be-ongoing series to a 5-issue miniseries is any indication. He's had a much larger role in JUGHEAD than I would have expected, so I doubt it.

If they killed off the NR version of Betty it would make no big difference to me -- the SJW version of Betty is tedious and boring, but then so is Veronica from what I've seen of her -- but I can't see that happening realistically either, as long as the prospect of a BETTY & VERONICA title remains a possibility, real or imaginary. Mostly the latter in the NR incarnation, it seems.

See, here's the thing we need to take into account... it's been a couple of years now since we've seen a new story written or drawn by anyone but Dan Parent. Now all of a sudden we see one credited as written by Dan, but drawn by an artist who we haven't seen a new story from in a couple of years -- Bill Galvan. Now, it's possible they may just have overlooked that one somehow when they were clearing the inventory of already paid-for work, but I don't think so. Notice that for the last six months, all of the digests released in any given month follow some kind of theme. In this round of solicitations the digest theme is "Back-To-School", which is as good an excuse as any for a story starring Dilton Doily. That indicates to me that Dan wrote a bunch of themed back-to-school stories for the digests, and drew all of them but one. Maybe he needed some help, because he's busy working on DIE KITTY DIE, YOUR PAL ARCHIE, plus the usual 5-page digest stories and covers... and he didn't draw the covers this month either. They may be old covers they just found that hadn't been used yet, but even so... I think that "How Shocking" 5-pager is a for-real, newly-commissioned art job by Bill Galvan. Either that or the credit is a typo... :(

I follow Bill Galvan on Facebook.  This is indeed new work for him.  He's been posting that he's doing covers and digest stories for Archie.

That's great to hear. I know the only other credits I've seen for Bill are for work done for American Mythology Productions... Pink Panther, Underdog, and the Three Stooges all contained shorts and/or covers by Bill. Any other comic work of Bill's I should know about, VJ??

Archie's Funhouse Back to School Annual #27
IT'S BACK TO SCHOOL for our DOUBLE DIGESTS! In the ALL-NEW story "How Shocking," one of Dilton's lab experiments goes awry (thanks to Archie), and things get REALLY weird!

Script: Dan Parent
Art: Bill Galvan
Cover: Pat and Tim Kennedy
On Sale Date: 8/2

Cold water time.  :( Could be ACP just had these covers on file for a long while, and are just now releasing them...

You need to read that solicitation a little closer, my friend. The COVER is by Pat and Tim Kennedy

The ALL-NEW story, "How Shocking" is credited as scripted by Dan Parent, with art by Bill Galvan.

HOW SHOCKING, INDEED!!

And that goes for the even smaller independent publishers (like Chapterhouse Comics, which publishes the print versions of Die Kitty Die) even more so. Support small press publishing efforts. ACP is teetering on the very edge of being a small press publisher (if not for the digests).

You should always, ALWAYS pre-order classic Archie stuff. Otherwise it doesn't get published.

Your pre-order may wind up being cancelled by ACP, but those pre-orders are the numbers they're looking at when they make those kinds of decisions about what stuff will actually wind up being sent to the printers, because that printers' bill represents a big chunk of change for ACP, and they need some guarantee that they can get that money back.

SO ALWAYS PRE-ORDER CLASSIC ARCHIE STUFF IF YOU WANT TO SEE IT ACTUALLY GET PUBLISHED.

Almost forgot!

DIE KITTY DIE: HOLLYWOOD OR BUST #3 (of 4) [digital] - I'll review the whole miniseries after issue #4 is out.

Loved the TV show parodies in this.

It's SO good!

... I could almost forget about new Archie stories if DKD came out as a print comic every month. I'd vote for that (if I was allowed to vote) before Your Pal Archie. Nothing against the latter, but it couldn't possibly be as funny as DKD (because ACP wouldn't allow that kind of outrageousness).

Did they find an older previously-commissioned (but never published) story hidden in a drawer somewhere, or is Bill Galvan getting new assignments from ACP to help take the load off Dan Parent, since he's now working on Your Pal, ARCHIE ??

Don't take this the wrong way, because I absolutely LOVE what Dan Parent does. But if this means other classic Archie creators besides Dan are now getting new work assignments from ACP, it's the best news I've heard in a long time!

Search has been fixed. That was due to a bug with the latest version of the forum software. I'm still looking into the post modification issues.

It's even worse than that now. Not only does the "Modify" button not work, but the "REPLY" doesn't work at all, and returns a dialogue box saying "Security Warning: The information you have entered on this page will be sent over an insecure connection and could be read by a third party.  Are you sure you want to send this information?"  Choosing "Continue" or "Cancel" in the Security Warning dialogue box is irrelevant, as the text I typed will not be posted. Instead, I'm returned to the Forum topics listing page. Or at least that's how it's working in both Firefox and Chrome browsers.

Fortunately the "Quick Reply" button does still seem to work, otherwise it would be impossible for me to post at all.
