  • CAPalace: I'm a woman btw and I'm just so sick of the blatant anti-men thing going on in comics these days. It's not doing women any favors either. :/
    July 09, 2018, 09:05:40 PM
  • CAPalace: They're banking on Archie 700 to sell a lot because "lol a new number wow lol" and it will for the first issue but it'll just go back to the average/poor numbers it had before. And YOU KNOW with that writer on B+V it's going to turn into an anti-men, oooh girl power lol violence against men and demeaning men is feminism and fun lol lol Good luck. I'll stick to Ebay to find the DeCarlo stuff thanks.
    July 09, 2018, 09:04:54 PM
  • Tuxedo Mark: I'm looking forward to the new B&V series. Personally, I think that previous B&V series by what's-his-name was way worse than anything that Rotante wrote on Vixens.
    July 09, 2018, 08:43:47 PM
  • DeCarlo Rules: So, so predictable... they love to exploit NUMBERS, whether it's a single digit (1 or 0) or a triple-digit ending in 00. Good lord, I can't believe they're actually giving Jamie Rotante ANOTHER B&V series to write ruin! She is the worst I've read -- although it's a tough call, Marguerite Bennett was pretty horrible as well. Nick Spencer can actually be quite good as a writer... or pretty bad, depending on the character and the direction. He was great on ANT-MAN and SUPERIOR FOES OF SPIDER-MAN (both books that had a strong humorous subtext), and not so hot on CAPTAIN AMERICA and THE AVENGERS. And he's he new writer on (yet another) first issue of THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, so I wouldn't guess the ARCHIE gig will last. ACP could probably only afford to hire him for that ONE issue, #700.

  • Vegan Jughead: ARCHIE isn't on hiatus officially. The last official word from Archie Comics is that there is "big news about the flagship ARCHIE title" coming up after the "1941" miniseries. We'll see. RIVERDALE is supposed to come back early '19 after the TV show returns.

  • Mr.Lodge: Think it's time for new leadership, especially in the creative front?
    July 05, 2018, 03:09:04 AM
  • DeCarlo Rules: I guess there's still THE HUNGER and VAMPIRONICA, but they're still so new that it's hard to think of them as "ongoing".
    July 05, 2018, 12:14:16 AM
  • DeCarlo Rules: So both ARCHIE and RIVERDALE are "on hiatus"? That means ACP has no ongoing floppy comic titles. Not a good sign. Good thing they still have the digests going (knock on wood).
    July 05, 2018, 12:12:47 AM
  • Vegan Jughead: I'm sure it has been; it was a dumb concept LOL.  The RIVERDALE comic is on hiatus until at least early 2019 and I'm skeptical it will ever come back.
    July 04, 2018, 04:37:17 PM

News and New Releases / Re: ARCHIE COMICS FOR APRIL 2017
« on: January 25, 2017, 08:49:35 AM »

Alright! Love the Moose special.

And could Betty & Veronica come out before the next Afterlife be in April? It's the ultimate tortoise vs turtle race reaching it's conclusion!! :)

From what I've been reading, Betty and Veronica have already "come out".  ;D

Oh please, GOD, NOOOOOOOOOO

I really do not believe Trump is a racist (and I am Mexican, by the way). Besides Clinton also has a HUGE list of awful things she has done. But what's done is done. Dems need to stop crying about it and need to stop rioting and burning flags and all those tantrums and man up already.
This one has, and as an Black man, his harping about the Birther issue concerning President Obama was very offensive to me. Hillary did win the popular vote. That's a fact. Electoral College has to go...

funny how dems are fine with electoral college when its in their favor, but when its not they cry.  Also Obama is Kenyan, wasn't cuz of race.
As far as I'm concerned, the Electoral College should go no matter who wins. The only thing that should matter is who has the most votes. Period. "Mob rule" indeed... :tickedoff:

So, you think that the founders where wrong when they created the electoral college?  Great to know!

All About Archie / Re: What's Next For Archie Comics?
« on: July 06, 2016, 02:11:56 PM »
here's my thought (not that you guys care, but whatever).  I both agree and disagree with Musical Necrophilia.  He/She/It makes a valid point when they say its not that good of a reboot.  As do I agree with you daren, when it comes to the term "when" it dies.  My thought is thus, what if ACP still did the reboot, but instead of having multiple floppies, they just make it all into one big digest, that they either release monthly, or bi-monthly (6 per year)?  I personally think that would work.  Plus, charge $10 to $15 per issue for it, (256 or so NEW pages of Stories) (Mmm Mmm Mmm)!

There seems to be 2 types of posters on this forum. Those obsessed with classic Archie and that's the only comic they read and those that read lots of comics and Archie just happens to be one of them. I actually quite enjoy the "What comics are you reading thread?". I get a lot of recommendations from there.

2 other types:
Those who read ONLY Archie Comics (but not JUST classic Archie) = spazaru

Those who read LOTS of comics, but for comics featuring the Archie characters, only really like the classic ones (= me). Not my fault they cancelled NEW CRUSADERS, THE FOX, and MEGA MAN - I enjoyed those, but not Dark Circle titles, Sonic titles, or New Riverdale titles. If Archie Horror goes on long enough, I'm sure I'll probably tire of those (just hanging in there hoping for some kind of resolution to the storylines).

The active threads here generally break down into six main interests:

1 - New Riverdale titles
2 - Archie digest/classic
3 - Archie Horror
4 - Riverdale TV
5 - ACP company/publishing/editorial (including solicitations)
6 - non-comics discussion

The reason there isn't more "other comics" discussion is pretty simple, when you think about it.

1 - At any given time, there are something like 1000 comic book titles being published.
2 - Of those, even the most voracious of comic readers can read only a tiny percentage.
3 - Of the active posters here, there are only a bare handful reading a significant number of titles other than ACP (or at least, a bare handful who have anything to say about them).
4 - Given the small number of other titles (apart from ACP) being read by active posters in relation to the potential number of titles out there, the overlap between any two active posters' reading lists is marginal.
5 - The same titles that any two active posters may be reading may fall on an entirely different range of the spectrum for each reader. In that slim margin of overlap, the comic that most excites you and about which you have a lot to say, may be a title about which I have little or nothing to say.
6 - All of the above being the case, "other comics" discussion tends to peak in "Archie-related" comics discussion (Pixie Trix, SitComics, AstroComix).

Id like to add one to the bottom list:  7 - Not everyone has A Thousand Dollars to spend on Comics Per Week (between ACP and every other CPC.

General Discussion / Re: What have you done today?

Went to the library, then I bought some groceries, came back home and just finished watching The Revenant.

wait, your library offers groceries?!  :D

Wish they would go ahead and do a new horror comic (like the one they teased last year)!
I think there next big project is the Josie reboot and if that is a success which in my opinion other than Archie #1 reboot I think it will be more of a success than the other reboots before it. Than they may explore another horror series, but I have no idea what they would come up with.

they teased a vampirella style veronica comic.

I'd hire better writers. Even some of the most talked about issues of recent times did not have strong stories.

Such as? Mark Waid? Chip Zdarsky?
I think a lot of these new writers are overrated. They in my opinion can't compare to the old Classic Writers of Archie Comics who brought the quick gags and laughter with every story. It's just not the same anymore.

I completely agree M.K!  I wish we had another B.B instead of M.W or C.Z.  Don't get me wrong, I respect both M.W and C.Z, but I miss the classics!

Four digests solicited, with only one of them (Jughead and Archie #22) indicating the lead story is new. Not good.  >:(

Yes, and only one has a new cover (even the monkey one is re-used but A AND J staring at themselves instead of B AND V staring).  Not impressed either.

Archie RPG / Re: Graduation
« on: April 23, 2016, 02:23:11 AM »
It was a Cool night.  The wind started to pick up, and Archie thought to himself "Man, we are finally here"  "After what seems like 3/4 of a century (shameless plug) we are finally graduating.

Jughead agrees with Archie, "Yeah and I can't wait for the After party at Pop's with the spread of food he is got set up there."

Jughead Turns to Betty and asks "Did you bring the Punch".  Betty Replies "No, I thought Archie did".
