  • DeCarlo Rules: It seems like they put extras on a disc because people expect them, or it helps drive sales, but more often than not, it seems like very little thought goes into the content. Of course there are some examples where the extras are exceptional, but usually that's not the case.

  • irishmoxie: I love digital movies and streaming. I usually get the Blu-ray Disc because I like to watch the extras the first time and then end up adding the digital code online or rip it and put it on the hard drive. Just much more convenient to stream it then search for the disc when I want to watch it.

  • DeCarlo Rules: On the other hand, maybe I should just bypass the Blu-Ray format altogether, buy a huge terabyte HD, and download everything. There's something to be said for that, in that you can get everything quicker and stacks of Blu-Ray cases aren't taking up space in your house, I guess.

  • DeCarlo Rules: This coming from a guy who still hasn't capitulated to the inevitable domination of Blu-Ray. It's getting to the point where I might have to relent, since I've seen some anime sets being released for the first time on Blu-Ray (no combo pak) with NO release of a DVD version.

  • Tuxedo Mark: With New Riverdale, things kinda make more sense, overall, I guess. With Classic Archie (even new Classic Archie), I find myself often asking "Why is this even an issue?" or "Why would the teen characters even care about this?" With Riverdale, it's absolutely insane bonkers, but everyone involved is in on the joke, so it's fun to just sit back, shut off my brain, and enjoy. :)

The writing is awful. They're so angry, hateful and violent over the dumbest things. And the abuse the male characters take (and how they're written to be 95% scumbags or dumb) is really offensive. Most of the new Archie Comics have been pretty bad in the writing department and the art department. (Although I would say the 'Archie' comic is an exception, but they're putting that on """hiatus""" too - which means we'll never see it again.) Obviously, Archie Comics doesn't have the money (or the drive to make money with their comics) to hire top talent, but they're sticking to the writers who have been criticized for their inferior past works or people with no experience writing comics.

I was 100% ready for biker gang Riverdale girls but it was just more wasted potential. At this point, I think they're just making comics to maintain their IPs and they are depending on their WB tv series partnership as the future for Archie "Comics."

Also according to Comichron they are selling (or distributing) between 1,000 - 1,500 issues a month...that's pretty bad. That's way less than what the 'Josie' comics sold and that reboot was cancelled so fast they changed the artist in the middle of the second-to-last-issue to bring her on the 'Archie' comic. So no surprises this is ending.

THE GOOD NEWS: Betty and Veronica Friends Forever #1 - At the Movies is out this week.

THE BAD NEWS:  Well... First, let me ask you a question. How many of you happened to read the last couple of issues of B&V Friends Jumbo Comics Digest, and Betty and Veronica Jumbo Comics Digest?  If you didn't read them, then I guess for you there's NO bad news, so forget I mentioned anything.

For everyone who did read those digests, though...

Here are the stories in Betty and Veronica Friends Forever #1 - At the Movies :

1.  "Riot on the Set" (from B&V Friends Jumbo Comics Digest #259, April 2018)
2.  "Movie Mix-Up" (from Betty and Veronica Jumbo Comics Digest #261, April 2018)
3.  "Extra Disastrous" (from B&V Friends Jumbo Comics Digest #260, May 2018)
4.  "An Un-Living Doll" (from Betty and Veronica Jumbo Comics Digest #262, June 2018)

So, yeah... I'm disappointed.  :-\

I can't say I didn't have my suspicions, and I almost mentioned it when I noticed (after B&VFF #1 had been announced with an "At the Movies" theme) that the stories in the recent digests almost seemed like they could have fit right in with the newly-solicited $2.99 floppy comic. And then, I was wondering... if they can't sell enough copies to make money off a $3.99 classic Archie floppy comic book, then how can they possibly make any money off a comic book which sells for $1 less per copy?

I don't want to put words in irishmoxie's mouth or presume to speak for her, but I feel pretty sure she'd say "Boo!" to this.

Me, I'm not going to NOT buy it... because that's the kind of desperation I feel reduced to as a fan of classic Archie comics in these current times.

I'm not proud of it, but ACP should be ashamed (I mean, come on! Couldn't they at least have picked some Dan Parent stories out of digests a year or two older, that may have been missed or at least forgotten by current Archie readers, instead of stories I'd only read a couple of weeks or months ago?*). I certainly don't blame Dan Parent -- HE doesn't work in the marketing or editorial departments of ACP.

*Yeah, and I'm STILL waiting for parts 8, 9 and 10 of "The Many Loves of Archie Andrews" -- and something resembling a conclusion to that series of a couple of years back. Could they have reprinted THAT? No, of course not.

Ouch, this is bad news.  :( The way they're advertising it led me to believe they were brand-new stories. (Well, I guess, technically they are lol...) Thanks for the heads-up as usual.

No, Fernando. Never did. Too much hassle. Although some people (see post before yours) found it funny.

I didn't find it funny that you didn't get the story because I had the same problem with her. Sorry if it sounded like I was laughing at you - I deal with stuff by making fun of the situations I find myself in.

Thanks for posting all this info, DeCarlo.  :)

I was bummed-out about not being able to get the new collection, but it looks like most of those stories are reprints from other collections or stuff I have already so now I know I can hold off on it for awhile.  :P

Ha ha ha you have about 17 more Josie loving years on me Vegan, but I gotcha.  ;)   Honestly I love this series, this is the only time I have ever had any sort of disappointment towards it.

Too bad not a lot of other people are reading it. I just saw the final sales numbers for the last issue - less than 6,000 total issues sold.  :'(

I am pretty annoyed at the whole Alan/Alexandra thing. They have no chemistry and neither of them had any interest in each other in the previous issues. Also the way Josie treats Alexandra because of it is so petty to me. Josie gave Alan up - now she likes him again because Alexandra is with him?? That stuff drives me insane.

But maybe it's just me. Maybe it's because growing up as a woman all my boy-crazy friends were constantly causing drama within our group over some 14 year old boy who had no interest in being in a long-term relationship (and honestly I can't blame the dudes lol).

Also, I am overly protective of Alexandra as a character, especially this version of her. It's probably not normal lol.

Otherwise, dang the Archie gang looks good drawn by Audrey Mok.

gulp....starting to sound a bit crazy like the former queen. Nah....couldn't be.

It's probably some sort of spam thing. "He" was trying to post links before.

Archie Comics has confirmed that Josie and the Pussycats will end with issue 9.  That sucks.

Where did they confirm it? Do you have a link?

I may just be in denial, but to me that article could mean #9 is Mok's last issue or it is the end of the series altogether.

that's what I was hoping; unfortunately I contacted Alex Segura and he told me JATP is ending with issue 9

uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh................  :'(

Thanks for getting that info, Vegan. I saw this coming, but it still hurts.

All About Archie / Re: The Best of JOSIE and the Pussycats TP

Honestly though I think the best 'Pussycats' collection we're going to get (unless they collect the entire series) was the digital one they released a year or two ago, 'Best of Josie and the Pussycats: Greatest Hits!'.

The next digital collection they released just re-hashed titles from that collection and threw in some comics they repeatedly published in the digests.

I could be wrong, but I'm not expecting it to come out at all at this point. It's been delayed several times without any announcement already even though Archie Comics was advertising it on Tumblr and other social media websites.

True enough, that I'm not expecting to see any stories collected in this trade paperback that we haven't already seen in previously-released digital exclusive collections, or reprinted in Betty and Veronica Double Digest sections within the last couple of years. I'd just be happy to have all (or most) of those stories in one place, and in print format. If I had my druthers, I'd much have preferred a "The Complete JOSIE, Vol. 1" to a "Best of J&tP", though.

I'm not sure how something can be delayed before it's even officially been solicited. Only after it get solicited does it have to commit to an expected shipping date. Before it gets solicited it's merely something that they're thinking about. Will it be cancelled? Maybe. But now I'm not so sure that Sabrina TP is going to get cancelled, either.

That would be my dream come true. Also I looked back on the 'Best of' collection I just posted about and it only had 300 pages of content, so if this book comes out, there's 300 more pages. (And who am I kidding, I'm going to buy it anyways.)

Archie Comics advertised it on Tumblr saying it would come out 2/8 and then they never posted about it again. I guess that doesn't count as official soliciting though, but it made me feel silly/like a liar after I reblogged it on my blog lol  ::)
