  • DeCarlo Rules: @Tuxedo Mark - Well, they came out in comic shops, but I guess that doesn't help you. If you've got a regular bookstore (or supermarket) somewhere nearby, they should have the digest, anyway.

Messages - Betty Girl

I'm not a big fan of horror, either, but I am enjoying both of these stories. I think the juxtaposition between the older comedic issues and the realistic version of these two is what makes it interesting. Well, that and the story itself is engaging. My only complaint is the extreme lag between issues.
I love to knit, do counted cross-stitch (although I haven't done much of that in a while), read, watch old movies, write, and just go down to the water in the evening (after the crowds are gone) and just watch the waves.

I think this is the story - Archie's Riverdale High #8.

Archie secretly dated Cousin Brucie?  :o

It's one of the best-kept secrets of Riverdale. ;)

I'm looking forward to it, although I'll likely wait for the print. I'm not on devices often enough to warrant going with the digital version.

I think this is the story - Archie's Riverdale High #8.
I have some of these, and am working on tracking down the rest. It is a fun detour from the usual hijinks the gang encounters.

That Vampironica series would be interesting.

I'd like to see this come around, as well.
Basing my answer off the 1971 (1st series), I'm going to go with Cousin Ambrose. He always seemed to bridge the gap between Sabrina wanting to at least appear to fit in with the Riverdale gang and the aunts' desire for tradition.
ARCHIE: B) The befuddled, clumsy loser of most other eras; C) The all-around nice guy. I think a combination of these two. To be honest, I never thought Archie did the jerk thing terribly well.

JUGHEAD: C) The anti-romance character who can still hang out with women (such as his friendship with Betty). The Jughead who isn't a misogynist, just doesn't have an interest in dating is a much more interesting character, to me.

VERONICA: B) The Jerk with a Heart of Gold character (mostly seen in and after the '60s). The newer Veronica (prior to the reboot) was too much like Betty. The less considerate version gave more contrast, and once Cheryl arrived, there was a pretty good distinction between the three of them.

BETTY COOPER: B) The All-Around Girl-Next-Door Nice Girl Tomboy (most eras). Crazy Betty had some appeal, but like I mentioned with Veronica, there really needs to be something to keep them from being clones. It also was nice to see that you don't have to be a jerk. Betty did nice things (not the Archie attention-getting stuff, but for others) because she wanted to. I always liked that about the character.

REGGIE MANTLE: B) Jerk With a Heart of Gold, who still hangs out with the gang. If he was just the town villain, there wouldn't really be a reason for the others to tolerate him. Yes, he can still be a jerk, but he can also be decent when it matters.

CHERYL BLOSSOM: A) The super-selfish and obnoxious villain ('80s & her return). Yes, she is rather one-dimentional in this guise, but I always saw Cheryl as a foil for both Betty and Veronica to have a common ground.

I recently picked up and have been listening to the soundtrack for Hamilton (a little late to the party).

Love this soundtrack! It's so emotional to listen to. The opening track 'Alexander Hamilton' made me tear up.

It really is great. The only "complaint" I have about it is that I got an earworm of "You'll Be Back" for the last couple of days.  ;D  I think my favorite is "Dear Theodosia".

The last couple of issues of DC Comics Bombshells have left me struggling. I love the premise, so I'm loathe to completely give up on it, but I don't stress much about picking up issues as they come out. The Archie reboot has me on the fence, but I'll probably stick with it. I guess I'm stubborn that way. ;)

are you gonna get the latest issue of Harley's Little Black Book? it involves Harley Quinn somehow getting transported to the bombshells universe and encountering her bombshells universe self

I haven't been reading Harley's series, so I didn't know about that. It could be interesting, though. I may have to check it out. Thanks!

I'm finishing up reading my Spring reading assignment for English class To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. This is a great story.

I love TKAM. Do you have any plans to read Go Set a Watchman?
Right now, I'm reading America's First Daughter by Stephanie Dray. It's a novel about Thomas Jefferson's oldest daughter Patsy. I'm still early into it, but it seems pretty good. After that, I have My Theodosia by Anya Seton lined up.

What kinda work do you do that's busier in the summer?

I live and work on Cape Cod. We rely heavily on summer tourism to get us through the winters, so we're ramping up for our busy season.
