  • DeCarlo Rules: Presumably with an ongoing B&V series, they'd want to keep it nominally in continuity with the ongoing ARCHIE title.
    September 22, 2018, 07:03:48 am
  • DeCarlo Rules: Oh, I hadn't noticed that the story is "Senior Year", so that explains it. It's a one-off story arc, just like "Freshman Year". They're not going to keep them as seniors permanently, or have them graduate and go on to college in an ongoing series.

  • DeCarlo Rules: Probably just a space-filler while they look for a better writer than Jaime Rotante. I hope.

  • DeCarlo Rules: It seems like they put extras on a disc because people expect them, or it helps drive sales, but more often than not, it seems like very little thought goes into the content. Of course there are some examples where the extras are exceptional, but usually that's not the case.

  • irishmoxie: I love digital movies and streaming. I usually get the Blu-ray Disc because I like to watch the extras the first time and then end up adding the digital code online or rip it and put it on the hard drive. Just much more convenient to stream it then search for the disc when I want to watch it.

  • DeCarlo Rules: On the other hand, maybe I should just bypass the Blu-Ray format altogether, buy a huge terabyte HD, and download everything. There's something to be said for that, in that you can get everything quicker and stacks of Blu-Ray cases aren't taking up space in your house, I guess.
    August 27, 2018, 03:19:15 pm
  • DeCarlo Rules: This coming from a guy who still hasn't capitulated to the inevitable domination of Blu-Ray. It's getting to the point where I might have to relent, since I've seen some anime sets being released for the first time on Blu-Ray (no combo pak) with NO release of a DVD version.

I finished The Colony Season 3 and am 70% of the way through Cloak and Dagger.  It has been very good so far, much better than I was expecting.

I finished watching The Crown Season 1 and enjoyed it a lot.  Now I'm working on The Colony Season 3.

I've also been reading a few manga:
ONE-PUNCH MAN VOL 14: THE DEPTHS OF DESPAIR (tankobon) by ONE & Yusuke Murata
BATTLE ANGEL ALITA: DELUXE EDITION HC VOL 04 (of 5) by Yukito Kishiro
One Punch Man is a series that I've heard mentioned a lot and will probably try out eventually.  What do you think of it?

I love Battle Angel Alita.  I first collected it in regular comics and continued as they switched to the volume format.  I wasn't going to get the deluxe editions, but when I saw how nice they were, I went ahead and bought them even though I have the earlier editions.  I'm behind on reading Mars Chronicle, but will get to those eventually.

Children of Whales

I'm listening to the Hamilton soundtrack.

I helped chaperone a 3 day field trip to Chicago last week where we  took 15 of our best students to participate in a workshop with students from other schools and actors from Hamilton and then watch the matinee performance.  It was a lot of fun and a great experience for all involved.

I just finished watching the first season of Black Lightning and thought it was pretty good.  I'm working my way through the third season of The Magicians now.

Mycomicshop.com has several copies in stock.  There are also a few copies on ebay at the moment.

I checked with comics.org and that is not an issue that they have inventoried yet.

All About Archie / Re: Story Jumps In Newest Archie Jumbo Digest

Sounds like a printing error.  I checked my copy of #286 and assume that you are talking about the Ski the World story.  In my digest, Page 10 is on the back of Page 9 and then the story ends on Page 11 with a little END box in the last panel.  The back of that page starts The Andrews Family Tree story.

I'll definitely be buying the series.  Then again, I supported Your Pal, Archie as well.

General Discussion / Re: How many comics do you own?
« on: February 10, 2018, 10:25:24 pm »
I've been collecting since 1977 so I've got a headstart on you.  I also collect many more titles than most collectors with lots of DC, Marvel, Dell, Gold Key, Harvey, Charlton and other companies, including more recent ones like Dark Horse, Image, IDW and so on.

I don't know exactly how many comics I have, but I'd estimate it at around 90,000 with approximately 7000 of them Archies.  The oldest one I have is Superman #6 form 1940.  I started collecting with Richie Rich comics so those are among my favorites.

I'll be reorganizing and making a new inventory of my collection at some point in the next year or so.  I will probably also downsize it a bit and get rid of some of the series I don't care about as much anymore such as X-Men and Aquaman.

I picked up a number of issues of March of Comics, a promotional series that ran for nearly 500 issues back in the 1940s-1980s.

I watched the first 9 episodes of season 2 of Riverdale over the past few days.  Shows had been piling up on my dvr over the past few months and I am now all caught up except for the first two episodes of Grown-ish which I will watch tonight.

The onslaught of new episodes of various shows is going to pick up soon though as Arrow, Supergirl, Flash and other shows resume and as Black Lightning, Magicians, Alienist and other shows begin or return.

I picked up a large run of the Dell Roy Rogers series that filled a lot of gaps and I now need only 14 more issues for the run.  The run included #1, but it has a detached cover so I'm not keeping that issue.

I just finished watching the third season of Outlander.  It is an excellent show.
