Shouldn't B&V issue 3 be on the stands soon?

General Discussion / Re: What have you done today?

Apparently I missed a lot in the last few days!

I got up at 5, walked my dogs and stopped at the grocery store for snacks for a work party.  Locksmith at lunch for a new key to my patio door, then over the border after work.  We have a 4-day weekend here, so I am looking forward to that.

Happy Easter!

I picked up the B&V Annual #252 at Shopper's Drug Mart the other day.  Pretty entertaining so far!  I was surprised to see how many digests they had on the racks.  I counted at least 6 different titles.

Thanks for sharing that, it was a fun read!

Ha.  I actually remember that story!  Betty is too sweet for Reggie.  Personally, I would only want to see them together if he improved himself to get a girl of her caliber.

I was very excited when the episode opened with this, it was a great (however short) homage to the old comics.

I am a little confused by something.... Are there no more new comics being created with the traditional Archie art and characters?   I have read through the posts and this is the impression I'm under.  If that is the case, when was the last traditional, new story printed?

There are still new 5 page stories in every new digest issue, all of them written and drawn by Dan Parent (along with the covers). Since there are 4 new digest issues that come out every month, that means 48 new 5-page stories per year (unless they decide to cut back), or 240 pages of new Archie/Betty/Veronica/Jughead stories per year. The are all the first story in every digest issue.

There are no remaining standard format comic book stories in the traditional Archie style. The last new one was released last Fall -- the ARCHIE MEETS RAMONES one-shot comic book drawn by Gisele Lagace.

Thank you for clearing that up for me!  I seem to recall that even years ago the story at the front would be a little more contemporary in tone and content.  I guess that was to balance out the 1950's/60's stories inside.

I have (or had) a few things.  I have an Archies LP and an Archies CD.  I have the Archie Bobble Head Doll.  I have a complete set of the Archie Cars McDonalds gave out in the 1980s (actually New Archies.).  I had a small puzzle of Archie on a bed when I was a boy.  I have some Archie T-shirts.  I had a Jughead costume and an Archie Comics hat.  I have an Archie Comics Pinball game from the 1980s.  I had Archie figurines and dolls but sold them because I needed the money.

I'd love to see your pinball machine!

Quite a few shows are off for a couple weeks, mostly ones with younger demographics...

Hi everyone,

I hope I am posting this in the right spot, if not please feel free to move it.

Just wondering if anyone else collects Archie merchandise?  I am currently building a collection of Marx figures from the 1970's.  Just got a boxed Jalopy in great shape!

Anyone else?

I recently read the latest Betty and Veronica 1&2 and enjoyed them;  My only note of criticism being that the feud between the two seemed to escalate pretty quickly.  Having said that, I have a teenage daughter and well, that is pretty much how those things actually go!  On the other hand it is a 3 issue story so I guess things need to move quickly.

Do you have a favourite Archie story that shouldn't be memorable but for some reason just sticks with you?

I have one, for some reason I can remember every single panel.

Anyway here it goes.  Veronica comments that both Archie and Reggie have put on some pounds and she is unimpressed!  It is decided that the boy who loses the most weight gets to date her.  Reggie, in his malevolent genius has a wide array of fast food delivered to Archie's door which he of course consumes.
The day of the competition comes up and Archie has gotten big!  He cleverly decides to throw on Fred's clothing (XXXL apparently) creating the illusion of being underweight.  He wins Veronica, flusters Reggie and gets some more free food.  Classic.

Maybe I got up to do something at some point, but I didn't see the Betty/Jughead kiss at all.

Where the hell was Cheryl? Betty learns she and Cheryl are gonna have a niece/nephew in common. You'd think we'd get a scene of Betty telling Cheryl immediately.

The Pussycat slo-mo march was cool. :) Veronica's so cute in those ears!

I think there is a obligatory slow motion walk/march in every episode;  Oh well, it works!

The kiss was in the last part of the show before Jughead and Betty go looking for the car.
