  • DeCarlo Rules: Jughead's Time Police #1 is out next week, along with Archie & Sabrina Part 1 (#705). Looking forward to the former, while my interest in ARCHIE has waned since #700... I guess I'll still read it just to see what they do with Sabrina, but the plot already seems too padded-out for my liking.

  • DeCarlo Rules: Collectively, it seems like they've put out more horror titles than anything else since cancelling the classic ARCHIE and B&V titles, Maybe it's just easier to do those than to come up with a new spin on an all-ages Archie title.

  • DeCarlo Rules: @ darkmark -- That's the unavoidable conclusion, based on the fact that since AFTERLIFE WITH ARCHIE and CHILLING ADVENTURES OF SABRINA went M.I.A., ACP has been working overtime to keep new horror titles coming down the pipeline. General Discussion / Re: What have you done today?

I went to a few local antique stores and bought a complete set of loose Archie Comics cards by Skybox, c. 1992. I already had most of the cards (and an unopened box set), but it is always nice to complete a set in my collection.

I won an auction for books 3-10 of the Archie Riverdale High series by Mike Pellowski.  I already had two of the books, but needed the rest.  I still need the first two books and there was a special as well.  There doesn't seem to be a lot of information out there on the series, but I think there were only the 11 books.

I bought a full set recently on eBay, and, yes, everything I've come across online, indicates there were only 11 books.

I bought The U.S. of Archie by Peter Pan Records, c. 1975 from my local antique mall.

That makes merchandise items specifically spawned by The U.S. of Archie incarnation exceptionally rare. Got (or know of) any items specifically merchandised from Archie's T.V. Funnies?

I haven't, but, as I'm always looking (and discovering merchandise I've never seen before), I'll keep you posted!  :)

Very true! I love the hunt, but its becoming harder and harder to find items for my collection in antique stores. I do however seem to come across A LOT of Archie-themed Welch's jelly glasses and McDonald's Happy Meal toys.

Those Welch's glasses are fairly common. It seems like they made several series of those over a few years, during the height of the Filmation cartoons' popularity. They were fairly durable, and people did actually tend to save them and keep them in decent condition.

I was not aware of any Archie McDonald's Happy Meal toys, however. As far I know, the McD Happy Meal toys didn't really become a going 'thing' until the early-to-mid '80s, which would have been beyond the peak awareness period (late 60s to late 70s) for the Archie characters. You may or may not know anything about this, but as far as I can tell there's never been any sort of guide book for Archie collectibles. If you have any photos of those Happy Meal toys, I'd love to see them.

Yes, I have a complete set of Archie-themed jelly glasses from Welch's (12), c. 1971-1973. I haven't focused on finding ones with all the different bottoms, but I recently picked up an extra set (6) in its original packaging. If you haven't seen it, a complete list of jelly glasses can be found online at http://www.jellyjammers.org/welchsjellylist.pdf.

I have a complete set of kid's meal toys from McDonald's (6), c. 1987-1988 and Burger King (4), c. 1991. I recently picked up a few from Ruby's Diner (3), c. 1997, but I'm not sure if it's a complete set or not.

I've seen a few Archie collectibles listed in collector's guides focused on Saturday Morning Cartoons, but generally they only include one or two pages on Archie. I might have to make one!

All About Archie / Re: Favorite Purchases of 2018

It's been a great year! I became active on the CGC boards, joined Instagram to show off my collection, and joined this Archie Fan Forum to connect with other collectors and fans. And, as some of you know, I've been focused on collecting vintage Archie merchandise, and my favorite find, my holy grail, is *drum roll* ... Archie's Car by Aurora, c. 1969. I've been searching for this model in mint condition for 20 years.

It seems like this is the right time of year to reflect on our favorite purchases of 2018...

What Archie art, collectibles, and/or comics did you purchase?

I bought (4) Josie and the Pussycats Frame-Tray Puzzles by Whitman, c. 1971 and The U.S. of Archie Vinyl Record by Peter Pan Records, c. 1975 at a local antique store today.

Wow, that's a find!  Usually all you find in those stores is junk. What I mean is, people are sharper these days in terms of recognizing that old stuff (particularly character merchandise) has collectible value due to an awareness of eBay, etc.

Especially something like puzzles, because finding those completely intact with the original box and all the pieces still there is hard.

And I love that both series incorporate a few Easter eggs or references for fans. For example, Sabrina carries a vintage Archie Comics thermos in Episode 1 and a poster of Archie's Madhouse can be seen in Harvey's bedroom in Episode 5 or 6 of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

Oh, so the story is set during the 1960s like in the comic book?  8)

It definitely seems like it, but there are a few references that make me wonder if it is set in the present. Check out What Year Does Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Takes Place? on CBR.com for more information.

I'm currently watching Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. I'm on Episode 6, and I am really enjoying it. I honestly could have binge watched the entire series over the weekend, but I'm trying to stretch out the series a bit. I need to reread the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina comics (c. 2014 - ), as I believe they were even darker than Netflix's version, but the series is far closer to its comic version than Riverdale is to Archie Comics. Riverdale is definitely a guilty pleasure, and I see it as a different universe, as its loosely based on the characters.

I purchased my holy grail - Archie's Car Featuring Archie, Veronica and Hot Dog by Aurora, c. 1969 - recently :D I have been searching for this model kit for years, and I finally found one in perfect condition!

I just picked up a set of Archie Bendy Figurines by Jesco, c. 1989 at a local yard sale  :smitten:

I already had Archie, Jughead, Reggie and Veronica, but, I was willing to buy a few duplicates, as it included Betty, and I have been looking for her forever!
