All About Archie / Re: Nobody here anymore?

I wonder what happened after 1968 that brought sales of Archie comics down a spiral.
On one side, I think one of the main issues that the comic book market has right now is that it targets old readers and does not cultivate new readers. Even the idea that you have to go to a comic book store to find new periodicals and that most of the comic book stores are places for adults is not good for the market.

The only real exception to that general rule for me is Sabrina, whose chilling adventures (and their spinoffs like Madam Satan) I'm still following. I also liked Cosmo and Super Duck, but it looks like fringe stuff like that is past the point of publishing now.

There is, frankly, not a lot to say about most of the new 5-page stories. Back when ACP was still doing stories that filled an entire issue or a story arc of several issues, there was a lot more comment-worthy stuff going on.
I agree with you, the 5 page new stories are nothing exceptional. They are usually pretty boring and I am not a big fan of Dan Parent's art. Having said this, it's always fun to go to my local newsstand or supermarket and buy a new digest.

I wonder if there is a way for the admin of this forum to send out an email to previous users. I have to say that for many months and maybe years the new forum did not work with Safari on Mac or iPhone. It was giving back an error message. This might have turned off many of the previous users.

It makes me sad to see that this forum is almost dead. I still remember many users from the past and their messages about their love for Archie. Are you guys still buying Archie comics? I get a few digests from my local newsstand (or at Barnes & Noble in their magazine section).

It was a nicely done show. I am re-listening to the episodes with the radio show and it's nice to hear a podcast about our beloved Archie gang.

All About Archie / Riverdale Podcast: What Happened?

I loved the Riverdale Podcast with Jonathan. What happened to the podcast and Jonathan? Any plan to bring it back?

Feedback/Support / Safari Issue
January 03, 2021, 04:45:42 PM
Hi Friends,
I have sent a PM to the admin of this board but have not received any reply yet. The forum has major issues with Safari (at least on Mac and iPhone). If you try to connect, you get the following error message:

"cannot parse response (NSURL ErrorDomain: -1017)

I have tried everything but it just does not work. I wonder whether this is affecting other users.

Very interesting. I have been reading the Milestone Digests, and they are pretty good with nice and funny stories.

Hi Friends,

I purchased this comic book (easy process with one single $1.99 PayPal payment to Nancy) and I have finished reading it. Very sweet story, pure Archie style and feeling.

Scarlet is a very interesting character and I hope Archie Comics will publish new stories with her.

Fernando's art is great as usual!

Go buy this comic book!

Very nice! I dislike new Archie and I love classic Archie. I just emailed Nancy and I will buy a copy of this story!

If this keeps happening no one going want the book. That God we got the first issue. Adam Hughes art is beautiful. I hope it works out.

This is unfortunately the status of comics nowadays. You need to preorder everything three months in advance, publishers release the comics whenever they want, etc.

This is why I am not buying new comics anymore.

Here's the short version of that answer: EXACTLY THE SAME STORIES THAT APPEARED IN THE REGULAR DIGESTS ISSUED A MONTH OR TWO PRIOR TO THE PUBLICATION OF WHATEVER 1000-PAGE DIGEST YOU HAPPEN TO BE LOOKING AT -- MINUS THE NON-ARCHIE STORIES (Josie, Sabrina, Li'l Jinx, etc.)

Oh wow, I did not know this. I thought they were books containing carefully selected stories from the past. Good to know!

In the afternoon I use my computer but at night I use my phone. Like right now I'm in bed typing on my phone.

I do the same. Laptop during the day and iPhone at night.

I just started listening to the episode posted this past Saturday, August 27, and I now realize what might be the reason of the ending of this podcast. It is clear that Jonathan is not a fan of the new relaunch of Archie and I have to say I agree with him. My feeling is that Archie is becoming like the current Marvel Comics. Don't get me wrong, I think each publisher has the right to do anything it can to maximize the profits (this is the goal), but I am also a believer that readers have the right to stop reading if they don't recognize their heroes anymore.

I am a big fan of Spider-Man and the current stories written by Dan Slott are nothing like the classic Spider-Man. What you see on those pages is a different and new character. This is why I stopped reading hose stories.

Same thing for Archie. The Archie written by Mark Waid and drawn by many different artists is light years far from the classic Archie we all loved.

What do you guys think?

All About Archie / Re: Quick Question--Digest Content

Would it be possible to have a quick summary of the digest titles currently published? Sometimes I don't understand the differences between all of them.
