characters costumes tend to evolve over time and Harley Quinn's Original costume doesn't lend itself well to Live Action...plus the jester costume just comes off as a bit too goofy now a days

Yes. And I tend to lose interest when they change things about a character that were part of that character's initial attraction for me. It sucks that there's no longer any room for the "comic" in comic books.  They were more entertaining when they took themselves less seriously.

I'm not saying that but if everything stayed the same we'd get bored eventually....this is a character that wasn't even meant to last and the only reason her comic book took off like it did is because they didn't stick so close to the animated series where she was nothing more than the joker's goofy sidekick

they took chances with her and obviously it paid off

I suppose I seem to imply that I'm singling the character of Harley out as an example of the bad sort of change in comics. That really isn't particularly the case, as in this specific example it's DC Comics in general that's gone off the rails. I just can't seem to enjoy any of that company's mainstream universe titles the way I once did about a decade ago. I guess Batman and Harley were really the only things left that were selling, which is why all the "rebirthing" is happening all over again -- DC's sales across the board having plunged drastically since the rebooted "New 52" of five years ago. That tends to make Harley Quinn look like more of a success than she really is, when really all we're talking about is less of a failure, in relative terms.
All of this rebooting (Marvel included) has gotten on my nerves. Because of their desire to increase sales, they keep reinventing their characters every few years or so. I'd wish they'd settle with one origin, and leave it at that...

American comic books have been rebooting to fit changing times, as well as competition from video games, ebooks, and Japanese Manga.

Archie's Friends / Voice of Josie Dies at 96
June 13, 2016, 01:29:38 AM

Terrible news that has a connection to the Josie and The Pussycats cartoon, Janet Waldo, who voiced the character in the Hanna-Barbera adaptation of Josie and The Pussycats and it's sequel series, Josie and The Pussycats In Outer Space, has died at age 96.

While the article from ABC 7 News doesn't mention Ms. Waldo's role of Josie, I felt it is important to share anyway.

Goodbye, Josie....

All About Archie / Re: Archie Gets Funding

We're gonna have to wait and see how they will pull it through.  Remember, ACP is not owned by a major corporation, in fact, it is the oldest Indie company.  They're Indie before it was cool.

All About Archie / Archie Gets Funding

Surprising news-Archie Comics now has money thanks to some help from a specialty finance firm:

Now, the company has money to branch out into other things like licensing and so forth.  Will it work?

All About Archie / Rejected Super Mario Comic
May 21, 2016, 12:28:06 AM
(Reposting due to the Server Purge)

Since Archie published Bayou Billy, Sonic, and Mega Man in the past, they ALMOST gave us Super Mario!

Yes, Archie once pitched to Nintendo the idea of a Super Mario Bros. comic book.  It would been great, had Nintendo didn't reject it, mainly because they don't want to be reminded of Valiant's last attempt of doing a comic.

Here's to a link to what could have been.

I would, and if they bring back Mega Man and convince Nintendo to get the OK to the the Super Mario comic.

Wonder if the story was ever reprinted today, would it upset younger readers about a psychotic Betty trying to kill the poor kid?  I wonder if Riverdale has an asylum for Betty to be locked up in...
#8
Yes she was evil back then, I doubt an evil Veronica would be PC for today's readers.

Well, it had to be done, given the success of the Crazy Betty/Villainous Veronica thread after merging two popular threads in the wake of the Server Purge.

As anyone notices, this is a companion thread to the Crazy Betty/Villainous Veronica thread, this time, about everyone else in the Archie world. This thread will highlight pics of the best and worst/craziness of the other Archie characters other than Betty and Veronica.  Yes, it is agreed that everyone in Riverdale can lose it and be loopy, hey, they can't be without their faults anyway!

Post away!

Got some best of the worst evil Ronnie pics here!

Something sinister is upon us...

Previously posted in the now-deleted Best/Worst of Veronica thread, might as well repost it here after the effects of the Server Purge.  Still, Ronnie is very evil here!

Something sinister in that look, also reposted from the Server Purge.

Random movies on Amazon and Netflix, Monday Night War and other originals on WWE Network.

At least in the To Riverdale and Back Again movie, there's an explosion that Michael Bay would be proud of.

Fan Fiction / Re: Fan Art Thread

Very interesting!  I want to play The Sims, but I need more space on my hard drive, perhaps when I get a iMac that has 1 TB, I can play it.

Can anyone help me on how to add pics?  I want to share with you guys my art,

Back when I was a newbie before everything fell apart in the Server Purge, I browsed many topics, including ones dedicated to parodies in Mad Magazine and other publications (including the infamous Goodman Goes Playboy parody) and crossover appearances, while i created a cameo thread.  Then, the purge came, and now that we're getting things slowly back together, might as well merge all the threads into another all-in-one super thread!

This thread will talk about parodies (mainstream and underground), crossovers (official and unofficial) and cameos (Simpsons cameos, MLP cameos, etc) that were discussed in separate threads before the server crashed.  Enjoy!
