  • DeCarlo Rules: @Kallell - Right. That's what I meant. The solicitations that came OUT for the months of November, December, and January... as Diamond Comics Distribution dates their catalogs. And those ACP comics digests solicited in those catalogs would indeed have shipping dates in the months of January, February, and March.  Which means ALL the issues of Archie, World of Archie, Betty and Veronica, and B & V Friends in those solicitations are JUMBO COMICS digests. Unlike those titles, Riverdale Comics Digest, Marvel Comics Digest, and Archie and Me Comics Digest haven't varied in their format from one issue to the next.
    January 15, 2018, 12:22:20 PM
  • Archie Comics Collector(Kalell): Very interesting observation DeCarlo Rules. Actually December 2017 was the last month in which there was still three Digest formats: Annual, Comics Double Digest and a Jumbo Comics Digest. As I looked through Jan, Feb and March solicits it seems that the main two formats are Comics Digest 128 pager: Archie and Me and the rest of the main Archie Digests will just be Jumbo Comics Digest 192 pagers. They seem to be doing away with the Annuals and Comics Double Digests for now.
    January 15, 2018, 11:41:08 AM
  • DeCarlo Rules: Looking back through the ACP solicitations from November, December and January, it just dawned on me that EVERY regular digest title solicted (except for Archie and Me Comics Digest, Riverdale Comics Digest, and Marvel Comics Digest) is a JUMBO COMICS Digest (192 pages). Are Jumbo Comics Digests the new permanent format? It sure looks that way.

When's the next Kickstarter? Still haven't gotten my commission from the last Kickstarter.

The Die Kitty Die Heaven & Hell Kickstarter launches in very early May 2018.

Dan and I are currently sending out reward packages for our 2017 Kickstarter campaign. Packages are shipping out every week. If you haven't received yours yet, you should very soon. Thanks for hanging in there with us.

I'm sorry you had so much trouble, Mr. Lodge. I hope it worked out.

.... and the next DKD Kickstarter, Die Kitty Die! Kitty Goes to Hell (which probably won't be available before Fall 2018)...

The next installment, Die Kitty Die Heaven & Hell, should be available in early Summer 2018.

All right!! Congrats, Mr. Ruiz! 😁  I hope this means you're back? 🤗

Thanks, Sagg.

As far as being back... well.... Like I said at my site, if Nancy has any other stories she'd like me to draw, I'd certainly consider them.

That's great, Fernando! :) Where, exactly, can the story be purchased, and is the digital format viewable on Kindle for PC or Nook for PC?

Click on my link above for details on how to purchase the story. I believe the story will be delivered as a PDF.

All About Archie / Re: "Unknown Artists"
« on: July 10, 2017, 01:52:18 AM »
For many, many years Archie stories went uncredited and there were no records kept as to who did what on these stories.  This was especially the case with artists who didn't produce the volume of work of DeCarlo and Lucey. I know I've been present when the digest production crew's only option was to run certain stories past Victor Gorelick and hope that he remembered who worked on them. For the most part, he usually did!

For some reason, this problem with the credits extended to stories published as recently as the 90's. Occasionally, I was asked to confirm if I'd written or drawn a particular story that there was a question about.

In spite of this, I know mistakes were made and I've seen my name credited with work I haven't done. Most commonly, I'm credited as the writer on stories I haven't written.

Really?  $6.99 for 128 pages?  Good luck with that Archie Comics.

It'll be even more expensive in Canada, Archie's largest market. I think they may end up paying eight or nine dollars for a digest.

News and New Releases / Re: ARCHIE COMICS FOR AUGUST 2017

The only character on that cover I don't recognize is the little girl with brown hair and a topknot wearing a purple swimsuit on a purple raft...

That's Little Audrey.

Fernando Ruiz - The Dan DeCarlo of his generation.

Gisele Lagace - The Kathleen Webb of hers.

That is very generous, Mr.Lodge. Thank you.

I think I saw FR had a print made of that cover illustration to sell, and it doesn't surprise me that would be one of his most popular covers and prints. It seems to be pretty well-recognized among Archie fans.

I certainly did, DecarloRules.

Not only is it a popular print, but it also stops a lot of traffic at conventions!

By the way, everyone can check out my prints over at my website:

That's the place to go to find out about my latest projects and appearances. I will even talk about Archie still whenever it comes up over there.

All About Archie / Re: Classic look coming back...with a twist
« on: April 17, 2017, 07:04:37 PM »
Thank you for responding. have you heard from Mr. Parent that this extra book will cut into his Die Kitty Die work?

Dan and I are pretty committed to Kitty. We've got lots of plans we're working on. So far, regardless of what else we've been doing, we've always made Kitty our top priority! It hasn't been easy but so far we've been managing it!

Don't care for Dan Parent. Too pedestrian/generic for me.

More a fan of Goldberg, Ruiz, DeCarlo, Crane, Legace, Hartley, Montana.

Thanks, Mr. Lodge.

I happen to like what Dan is doing here, but I do wish the company would have the guts to let him just go full CLASSIC!
