Looking forward to your starred reviews. How are you going to review the coloring book? Did you buy some colored pencils?

Well, I can't review the interactive experience of coloring the pages, because that would be unique to each person who buys the book.

I can however, review what's IN the book, and the various choices that were made both in the selection of artwork, and what they DID with the artwork selected.

Are you planning on doing any coloring? And posting your artwork?

Quote from: DeCarlo Rules on June 15, 2017, 06:49:27 AMI'd like to see IDW just do a straight adaptation of the original cartoon – not updated (taking place in the '80s), not 'realistic', just a fun adventure with some comedy to it. Nothing to do with the problems of being in a band, just the fantasy of it, the glitz, the glamor, and the adventure, and crazy oddball happenings.

I'd like to see this too. I enjoyed the Jem comic series more for the gorgeous art. They're relaunching the comic series as a mini-series and making it more superhero-y without Gisele of course.

How's Mighty Mouse? And Looney Tunes? Would I like them? I want to start reading Looney Tunes and Simpsons comics since I like old fashioned humor but I don't know where to start. I liked the Simpsons and Mighty Mouse comics I got for FCBD but not the Sponge Bob one.

How's Kiss Vampirella? I liked the Kiss dystopian series that came out recently.

Tomorrow, I plan to organize my comics. I bought these dividers where I can write The Archie section, B&V Section, Reggie & Me Section etc. It's going take a long time.

1. Did you get the white cardboard ones or the plastic ones? If you got the cardboard ones you can just print the names of the comic titles neatly, but if you got the plastic ones it's better to use one of those label-making machines to make them look really professional (just like in a comic shop with back-issue bins). The label-making machines are not that expensive, so it's not a bad idea if you plan to use divider cards to organize your whole collection.

2. Do you have a lot of issues of Reggie & Me (or are you just talking about the New Riverdale 5-issue miniseries)?

3. Have you ever noticed a regular artist, or one particular artist who appears on Reggie & Me stories more often than others? I've always wondered about that. Assuming, that is, that you're familiar enough with the different artists' styles to be able to identify them by sight, because I know back in the 60s/70s/80s when Reggie & Me was being published they didn't have credits on the stories. I don't have a lot of those issues myself.

I often see label makers at thrift stores though I think it'd be more fun to design your own dividers with a picture of the character on there.

I used to have more Reggie and Me but I'm pretty sure I donated them to my local Half Price Books.

Anyone have any better ideas than long boxes to organize comics? I'm in the process of moving (again...ugh) and some of the plastic tubs I was storing my comics in got crushed in the last move. Thankfully the comics survived unharmed. I have them in those thick cardboard book boxes from U-Haul right now. I find those long/short boxes from comic book shops unwieldy. It's very difficult to flip through comics easily to find what you want if the box is overstuffed. And if it's not overstuffed the comics fall over. I'm asking more for my new place...how to display and easily find comics in a large collection.

On YouTube I was watching the HBO Documentary with the mother who put her daughter in wheelchair & her mother scammed the town saying her daughter was disabled & she was disabled at all.

I watched that on YouTube this weekend as well! Very sad story.

(July 2008) - This had Part 2 of "The Matchmakers", my most-disliked of the generally unliked New Look stories. Other than that, a nice mix of reprints - the usual quota of Schwartz and Ruiz, with a few more Boldman/Lindsey stories than average, including stories where Juggie contends with Googie Gilmore ("Good Neighbor") and Trula Twyst ("Notes to You").

How was the history of comics? Worth reading?

Then I guess the other question would be: If print comics should cease to exist, what causes someone to initially seek out a digital comic, and what makes that seem worth 3 or 4 dollars to them?

I've noticed, while adding comics to my digital wish list on Amazon recently, a lot of the back issues from other publishers have gone down drastically in price (some to as little as 99 cents). The one publisher still at full price for back issues of current series? Archie.

Well, I guess that presumes that the price is the only barrier to new readers, but I was thinking about an even more basic question - how are new readers attracted to browsing the available digital comics on Amazon or elsewhere?

As applied to Archie digital comics specifically, if there were no longer any print versions, what would cause someone to seek out the digital versions if they had no prior familiarity with ACP's comics or characters, and no way of casually sampling them for free? In a store you can pick up a print comic and flip through it. Digital previews only show you 3 to 5 pages. Print comics get handed down to younger siblings or other relatives, loaned or given to friends, etc.

They're banking on Riverdale attracting new readers. I know when j see a movie I really like I seek out the source material. It's pretty easy with the overlap between anime and manga .

My all-time favorite Ruiz cover:

http://www.archiefans.com/index.php?media/item/b-vdd213.1409/

I love the little nuances like the girls simply taking in the sun at the beach, with the subtle light and shadows on them. The two beauties radiate sexuality, in fact, it could easily rival a DeCarlo cover in this regard (no offense DR). Ronica differentiates from Betty as she listens to her music while Betty simply lies there, possibly listening to the sea and feeling the breeze. Both girls are content. Nothing needs to be said. Excellent work...

I don't know if DeCarlo ever drew the boobs that big. This cover was pushing the boundaries for ACP and a preview for what was to come with Die Kitty Die.
