I still need to catch up on Jughead. I haven't read the last three issues yet.

I prefer classic Archie as well and miss the classic-style "floppies". If they wanted to introduce a reboot, they could easily do that without getting rid of long-time artists or all but eliminating new classic stories.

Permissions on the shoutbox have been fixed. In the future please send me a PM about issues like this instead of starting topics. I'll see it faster.

On that note, please stop with the arguments. It's getting old real fast.

Please be courteous and respect everyone else's opinions even if you don't agree with them...

Sure thing, chief.  Hope you're doing backups more than once a decade now so the site doesn't disappear again.

Backups are done nightly now. Knock it off with the nastiness.

General Discussion / Estate Sale Stash
April 05, 2016, 03:30:03 PM
A few weeks ago I picked up around 100 or so various Archie comics for $35 through estate sale auction site ebth.com (based locally but they recently expanded nationally). They're not in the best of shape (some water damage, writing on the cover, torn covers in some cases, etc.), but they're still readable. Here's a complete list of what I got. I don't know how many are duplicates of ones I already have, but will go through the list and compare it to what I already have in a little while.

Archie: 145, 151, 162, 168, 169, 170, 182, 183, 185, 191, 192, 196, 212
Archie Giant Series: 190 (Archie's Christmas Stocking), 202 (World of Jughead)
Archie and Me: 18, 28, 37, 38, 39, 40, 41

Archie's Pals 'n' Gals: 55, 75
Archie's T.V. Laugh-Out: 9
Betty & Veronica: 127, 128, 134, 137, 139, 148, 153, 154, 168, 179, 183, 184
Betty and Me: 14
Captain Pureheart: 6
Josie: 18

Jughead's Jokes: 21
Laugh: 193, 197, 199, 219 (x2), 222, 224 (x2), 235, 259
Life with Archie: 51, 55, 59, 60 (x2), 63, 76, 86, 96, 103, 112
Mad House Ma-ad: 71
Pep: 191, 192, 201, 202, 207, 213, 220, 223, 224, 230, 247, 250, 304

But please no Caitlyn Jenner presence on Riverdale. Her bravery is a sickening mix of publicity-seeking and privilege. IMHO, as always...

Watch out, Caitlyn Jenner, JonInIowaCity is telling you to check your privilege!  Did she break the SJW brain trust by supporting Trump or something?   ;D   It's not like I'm a huge fan, but it's good she came out, maybe people like gay men will stop treating transwomen like garbage like they have gotten away with for decades on end if there is an actual trans celebrity?  Oh I'm sorry, is being an Olympian to low of a bar for personal achievement for successful trans people? I guess you must be in the Olympics and then be poor for the rest of your life to make the bar for acceptable LGBT celeb status, or does that only apply to transfolk?  Was Doogie Howser MD in the Olympics?  Is that why he's allowed to be lavished with attention by the media?

Please be courteous and respect everyone else's opinions even if you don't agree with them...

I was watching it that night and was glad to see it, though I still don't buy their answer for what town Riverdale was based on.

Rik Offenberger

I sure wish Rik would come back.

I'm friends with him on Facebook. I'll send him a message letting him know about this topic. Not surprised at all that he's involved with this book.

All About Archie / Re: Oldest Archie item you own
April 02, 2016, 10:09:07 PM
The oldest item in my collection is a somewhat beat-up copy of Pep #60 from March, 1947. It was given to me as a gift when I bought some other comics from a user on this forum.

At the rate I post at, I'll be a newbie for the next 10 years...

... and for some silly reason, I can't figure out how to add friends :(

The buddies/friends thing must be tied in with some other profile-related permission. I'll look into it more tomorrow when I'm not half asleep.

Will there be any chance of enabling options such as adding friends and name changes?

You should be able to add friends already. Name changes can be done with the shop items like last time.

I'm watching Hook on Netflix. Haven't seen it in a while.

I've mentioned it on the site's Facebook and Twitter accounts. Not sure how many follow us either place.
