This looks like it could be pretty good.  It's a five issue miniseries.  Written by Kelly Thompson and drawn by Veronica Fish and her husband Andy. I'm particularly interested because Veronica Fish was my favorite of the artists on the Archie reboot title.

I know most of y'all are into classic Archie only and a lot of y'all didn't get into RIVERDALE.

I've bought all of the reboots except B&V Vixens.  I actually thought the Mark Waid written Archie was pretty good.  Not great, but some issues were, to me, well above average, while others were dull.  I loved Afterlife With Archie and liked Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, but of course we know what happened with those.

This latest news about the main title, ARCHIE, though, is too much. To cancel the Waid one, then have this bizarre Archie 1941 series that's NOT drawn by a classic artist like Jeff Shultz or Dan Parent, and then follow it up with something that looks so non-descript and non-Archie is just weird. It's almost irrelevant to me what it's going to contain or what the quality ends up being.  It just seems like the company is drifting with no idea what to do next.

I understand why that would be the case. They own characters that most people find outdated and irrelevant and it can't be easy figuring out what to do.

Unlike a lot of y'all, I absolutely loved Riverdale, the TV show. The first season was awesome and the second season had plenty of good moments. But now I'm reading there's going to be some kind of cult leader.  I'll give season 3 a chance but it sounds like I won't be making it through the whole season if it's going to be about some stupid cult.

I've been an Archie fan for LONG time. Some people on here know that comics made by Archie Comics are the only comics I've ever read.  I'll continue to buy collections produced by ACP if they're done well and contain at least some material I don't already have.

I'm perfectly willing to jump on board if they come up with new ideas that look compelling but for the first time in my life I'm not subscribing to at least one new title of theirs and I'm cancelling my subscription to the flagship title.

I trust that if anything good happens, the well educated fans on this forum will let us know!

I was never a fan of Betty and Veronica as biker chicks to begin with. I always thought of these ladies as too classy for that trash, so I'm not terribly disappointed that this title didn't work out.

All About Archie / 'Archie 1941' comic
June 04, 2018, 12:41:57 PM
Not sure how I feel about this throwback five issue miniseries being published.

The original 1940s Archie Comics are not among my faves.  Mark Waid is writing it.  We'll see how it goes.

All About Archie / Archie meets Batman '66!
March 20, 2018, 06:56:58 AM
This could be a really cool crossover especially since Batman '66 is based on my favorite (and IMO) only Batman, Adam West.

And also because DAN PARENT is doing the art!

All About Archie / Archie June 2018 Solicitations
March 19, 2018, 06:26:46 PM
Looking forward to the Archie At Riverdale High trade paperback and for some reason, despite not being all that interested, I'm thinking of picking up Vampironica after seeing #3 in this solicit.

I've been fine with the Archie reboot, but I have to say I'm kind of surprised it's made it to issue 31.  I haven't looked at the sales, but I can't imagine they're that great these days.  Other than that, pretty standard stuff: overpriced digests that keep getting smaller and a horror title but NOT Afterlife or Sabrina and the last gasp of Cosmo and The Archies.  Oh yeah, and Vixens which I can't imagine will be long for this world either.

All About Archie / "The Archies" will end with issue #7
February 16, 2018, 12:31:14 PM
I can't say I'm surprised, although I've really enjoyed the book.  It's probably weak sales that's ending it (I haven't looked up the sales), but it also could be because after they got The Monkees and Blondie, they weren't able to get any more well known "guest" bands to appear in the book.

I can't imagine what the future is for the RIVERDALE comic title because while I've actually been pleasantly surprised by the quality of the stories, Thomas Pitilli's art is horrible in that book in my opinion.

Dan Parent! Bill Gollher!

It says it's an ongoing.  Let's support this thing so it doesn't get Your Pal Archied.

This ROCKS!!!

All About Archie / Archie April 2018 solicitations
January 24, 2018, 09:21:08 AM
I like the looks of Volume 3 of Archie's Big Book.  Volume 2 was Fantasy and those are my least favorite stories.  Volume 3 is Rock n Roll and those are some of my favorite stories.  Also, a Time Police trade paperback.  Pretty cool!

All About Archie / Jughead: The Hunger
January 21, 2018, 11:32:19 AM
I just read issue 2 of Jughead: The Hunger (3 if you count the "one shot").

This is a really good book and since Roberto isn't working on it, it's actually being published.

The Kennedys artwork is really good and for some reason Joe Eisma did the second half of this issue and his art is fine for this story too.

I actually thought the one shot wasn't that great but took a chance on the regular series and it's much improved over the one shot.

Good story and just enough humor.

I have no idea how it's selling but it's been a pleasant surprise.

Still no Chilling Adventures of Sabrina or Afterlife With Archie (aside from a trade collection).

I hope that Best of Betty and Veronica Vol 2 trade really happens this time, though.

All About Archie / Your Pal Archie #2
September 01, 2017, 05:45:59 PM
I just got my subscription copy of Your Pal Archie #2 in the mail.

It's great!  The first issue was just getting us warmed up.  If you haven't read YPA, do it!

Archie wins the lottery in this one and of course it's a mess.

The back up story (which is to be continued next issue) is about Reggie getting what looks like a concussion playing football and it changes his behavior some would say for the better.

Ty Templeton's dialogue is funny and Dan's art, as always, is top notch.

I'm hoping this thing gets extended beyond 5 issues or at least they use a similar idea on different characters.

All About Archie / Your Pal Archie
July 23, 2017, 11:26:37 AM
Got issue one in the mail yesterday as part of my subscription.

Pretty fun!  Great art and I like that there's several shorter stories instead of one long one.  B&V are beautiful drawn by Dan of course!!!

All About Archie / Archie #22
July 19, 2017, 09:13:48 AM
Archie #22 is sweet and heartbreaking at the same time.  I recommend it.

It seems like #23 will be a weird time to change artists from Pete Woods to Audrey Mok.  They claimed #23 starts a new arc, but it's going to be really a continuation of the current story.  I like Audrey's art much better than Pete's, so I'm fine with it, but I wish this book could stick with an artist.

This is awesome for me because I've pretty much loved everything Alex Segura has had a hand in writing.

It says real bands will appear, and he knows his music so this could be really cool!

All About Archie / Josie & The Pussycats #8
July 12, 2017, 08:52:30 AM
Just read #8 and I thought it was an amazing issue.  The Pussycats and The Archies go to Tokyo.

I know a lot of y'all haven't been to hot on this series but I've loved it.  It's too bad #9 will be the last one.

At least Audrey Mok is going to the artist on Archie.  I think she'll be a big improvement on Pete Woods.

All About Archie / Betty and Veronica #3
June 21, 2017, 07:47:54 AM
I just got around to reading the new issue of Betty and Veronica.  Despite the ridiculously long wait since issue 2, I think this one was worth it and definitely the best issue yet.  It kind of wraps up the story, so who knows if Adam Hughes is slated to do any more B&V?

I thought this one had more humor than the previous 2.  I was a little lukewarm on those.  Hot Dog's interludes were better too.

I like her art on Josie and the Pussycats so this could be cool.  I've been underwhelmed by Pete Woods.

The article states:  "It's also the jumping-on point for Audrey Mok, who has been working on Josie and the Pussycats (which comes to end this August with Issue #9)"

I don't know if this means JATP is ending with issue 9 or her participation in the book is ending with issue 9.
