Dan Parent is doing a new ongoing series in the classic Archie style...sort of.  It's a little updated, but this will be fantastic!  It will be written by Ty Templeton who I'm not familiar with.  Can't wait for this!

All About Archie / Jughead #14
April 05, 2017, 07:09:31 AM
Another really fun issue that wraps up Ryan North's tenure on the Jughead book.

I'm very skeptical I'll like Mark Waid and Ian Flynn's version of Jughead as much as Ryan North's.  I'll give it a chance but Ryan's writing on Jughead has been the highlight of the Archie reboots for me.

I hear a lot of complaining about the reboots and RIVERDALE, etc, but I'm genuinely curious.  How would people on this forum have done it differently?

I love classic Archie as much as the rest of y'all.  Trust me on that.  In a perfect world, the original house style Archie would be the best selling comic books in the world.  I think they should be.  They're my favorite comics of all time.  However, they weren't selling much.  Something had to be done.  Archie Comics chose one way.  Seems like most of the people on this forum don't like it.

So, how would y'all have done it?  Personally I don't have any ideas.  That's why I'm asking.

Full disclosure: I'm mostly happy with the reboots and the TV show.  They're not perfect, but I don't dislike them.

Love to hear your ideas.

Reviews / Reggie & Me #3

I was a little underwhelmed at the first two issues, especially given that Tom DeFalco wrote them, but issue 3 is a LOT stronger.

For the first time I can remember, we go to Moose's house (with Reggie) and learn a little about his family and home life.  It's a touching sequence.

There's some funny art in this issue to watch out for too.  Sandy Jarrell's art is always great.

Whereas with the first two issues, I was kinda relieved that this was a five issue mini-series, now I wish it was an ongoing because DeFalco is doing some good character development here that I could see lasting if he had the time to flesh it out.  Oh well.

Reviews / Jughead 13
February 22, 2017, 07:59:18 AM
Just read Jughead 13.  This, with the possible exception of the Sabrina issues, is the best one yet.  Derek Charm's art is amazing and Ryan North is the best and funniest writer currently working for Archie.

Unfortunately, he's leaving the book soon and will be replaced by Mark Waid.  I don't see how Mark Waid will equal what Ryan is doing but maybe he'll surprise me.

Derek Charm will hopefully stay on the book for a long time.  His depiction of Archie is awesome, especially in this issue where Arch is wearing dark wraparound sunglasses.  He looks like such a jerk, in a good way!

Welcome/Introductions / Howdy y'all

I'm Vegan Jughead, so obviously I don't really exist!  LOL

I'm a HUGE Archie Comics fan and am loving RIVERDALE even though I know a lot of people aren't.  I can't get enough.

Anyway, this looks like a cool place to geek out about Archie Comics so I'm looking forward to it.

Fave characters are Jughead (I turn away when he eats animal products...kidding!), Josie, Betty, and Sabrina.  But really I love all the characters and there's at least some stories from every era I love too, including the reboots.

Nice to meet y'all!
