It is obvious someone is at least reading the comics...

Well Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is the brains behind the show, even though he isn't writing all the episodes.  He's a TOTAL Archie geek and I'm quite sure he's read every issue of every Archie title ever!  Haha.

That's why there's been so many great easter eggs in this show.

It's shit.

It's stupid comments like this that make using the Internet much less enjoyable than it should be.  No one gains anything from such a comment.   I think all of the changes from the comic books (there are many) are a mistake, but the show is still fairly interesting.  Veronica, in particular, is well acted.  I could not pass up the chance to see these characters on TV, in any case. I regret the overall serious tone.  I wish there were a lot more humor.
If nothing else, the actors make great photographs (screen caps).

It's funny you say that.  I find myself laughing out loud at the screen pretty often.  It may not be traditional humor but it's there in my opinion.  Like last week when Mr. Cooper was telling Betty about the feud between his family and the Blossom's and he said in his arch tone, "we were buying and selling maple syrup!".  It was so campy.  I know the writers intended it to be laughed at and I did.  There are many examples of this.  My wife and I crack up at this show a lot.  Maybe we're just weird?  ha ha.

Is it worth watching? No, no it is not. Unless you like lame, cliche teen dramas.

I guess I do, because I'm hooked.  The cast is awesome on this show.

I'm curious about what the reaction is from fans of the comics. Without spoiling the show- because I will watch it at some point- can I get some opinions about whether "Riverdale" is good or not?

Some people don't like it but I think it's great.  I have a lot of friends at work watching it and they all love it too.  I can't recommend it highly enough.

This show has managed to do the impossible: make Cheryl Blossom a sympathetic character.  I think Madelaine Petsch is doing an amazing job with her.

Esposide #5 of RiverDale. I felt so sorry for Cheryl. Her terrible parents & scary grandma. Couldn't Veronica just have gone home. But I guess Veronica is the only friend Cheryl could trust. One thing about Reggie & Archie, I didn't like how Archie just gave in & let Reggie becomes Football Captain. Reggie punched Archie in the eye in Esposide #2, I would never even look at Reggie again .

I think he gave in because his heart is in his music.  I was actually surprised he didn't quit the team!  But maybe if him and Valerie start falling in love, he will quit the team and do music full time.

I read the reboot  Reggie and Me #2.
Why is the storyline so boring? It's sad 'cause he is my favorite character but so far this  reboot is not doing it for me.

"I Can't Believe It's Tom DeFalco!"

How can he have written such good stories for traditional Archie titles over the last 5 or 10 years, yet turn out such a dud as Reggie & Me?

The third issue is much better.

I read Reggie and Me #3 yesterday. It's MUCH better than #2.

Thanks. I really hope so because those two issues so far haven't been interesting nor funny  :(

I thought the first 2 were OK, not bad, but this one was a huge improvement, IMO.

I loved it!  Veronica and Melody sound great on that Beyonce song!

I saw some pages on the preview at Google Play Store, but I can't get because my phone has no space. I'm getting my copies from Midtown Comics.

Well it will be worth the wait, I promise!

Once upon a time, things used to be simple. Regardless of how different each member was in terms of their attitudes, outlooks, lifestyle and interests, they could all agree that they enjoyed reading Archie Comics.

Not so anymore. ACP is responsible for fractionating its traditional fanbase. You've got the people who like everything the company publishes, and you've got the people who don't like Archie Action titles, who don't like Dark Circle titles (still... none of those feature the traditional Archie characters).

Then you've got the people who don't particularly like LIFE WITH ARCHIE; the ones who don't like AFTERLIFE WITH ARCHIE and CHILLING ADVENTURES OF SABRINA; the people who don't like New Riverdale comics (and the people who may only like one of the New Riverdale comics); and the people who don't like RIVERDALE the TV series. And of course the people who do, and the people who only like a couple of the aforementioned. Also a few newer people coming in who only like the newer New Riverdale and/or Archie Horror titles. So really there's no common consensus anymore for a fanbase.

You make some good points, DCR, but is there ever really a common consensus for a fan base of anything?  I mean, I'm a HUGE Beach Boys fan but I don't like Pet Sounds.  I go back and forth with other Beach Boys fans about this and have been for years.

I think part of the fun is talking with other fans about why they like something I don't and vice versa.

I was a little underwhelmed at the first two issues, especially given that Tom DeFalco wrote them, but issue 3 is a LOT stronger.

For the first time I can remember, we go to Moose's house (with Reggie) and learn a little about his family and home life.  It's a touching sequence.

There's some funny art in this issue to watch out for too.  Sandy Jarrell's art is always great.

Whereas with the first two issues, I was kinda relieved that this was a five issue mini-series, now I wish it was an ongoing because DeFalco is doing some good character development here that I could see lasting if he had the time to flesh it out.  Oh well.

JUGHEAD is the only New Riverdale title I continue to read at this point.

Have you given Josie and the Pussycats a shot?  I think it's great!  Second best after Jughead, and it's a CLOSE second best.

I've given it 3 shots. Sorry, I absolutely HATE the writing, and didn't find it funny at all. I probably wouldn't have read as far as issue #3 if I hadn't liked Audrey Mok's artwork. I might give it another chance if they changed writers but kept Mok on the art.

OK, cool, well at least you gave it a chance.  Different strokes....
