That always seemed like a particularly weird fashion statement to me. Lederhosen and a little alpine hat. What possible explanation could you give for that? Did he have another job as part of the Disney "cast members" for the Disneyland Matterhorn ride?

I was always partial to lederhosen Superduck myself.

I always thought the lederhosen was part of the attempt to make Supes more along the lines of Donald Duck. When Supes gets his lederhosen, he also gets a cute nephew and a fiery self-destructive temper ala Donald. I figured the lederhosen was an arbitrary fashion choice much like Donald's sailor suit.

The Archie written by Mark Waid and drawn by many different artists is light years far from the classic Archie we all loved.

The Archie comic books being published now are an entirely different product from what the company has published for seventy-five years and it has an entirely different market as its target.

Regarding the podcast, I'm sorry to see it go although admittedly as my involvement with Archie came to an end and all things Archie become more "reboot-centric", I stopped listening as regularly. Jonathan was always a big supporter of mine and he even did a Die Kitty Die episode a few months book so I will always be appreciative of that and I will also remember our conversations fondly.

I hope to see him again.

Somewhat off topic, but shouldn't Fernando and Dan and whomever they're collaborating with have their own podcast where they talk about current projects & stuff?

Its a nice idea but both Dan and I have our hands full.
Ain't full with Archie storyboards and scripts, but I understand...

You must be the Ambassador of Etiquette and Finesse on this board.

I'm pretty excited about next Saturday's Riverdale Podcast with special guests Rik Offenberger and Paul Castiglia talking about their new book, THE MLJ COMPANION. Jonathan should have asked Fernando Ruiz on the show as well - I know he's a huge fan of the ACP superheroes. I hope it's an extra-long show!

I would've done it.

Sorry, I was scanning through a lot of images and those 4 covers showed up in a group, I should have checked.

No problem, DR!

Wow, looks like Dan Parent is on a roll now. Not only does he have variant covers for all the Chapterhouse Comics in October (All-New Classic Captain Canuck #4, Captain Canuck #10, Northguard #4, and The Pitiful Human Lizard #10 -- all of which feature Kitty Ravenscroft on the covers)...

Dan's definitely busy these days but the variant covers for Captain Canuck#10 and Pitiful Human Lizard #10 are mine.

Here's Captain Canuck:

Here's The Pitiful Human Lizard:

I love it a lot, maybe it's not too late...

After the way they treated me though... IT'S TOO LATE!

...I meant that ACP might have hired a plant to come on the board...  :P

Archie Comics does monitor what is being said on various forums and Facebook pages and because I have been so vocal about my expulsion, they actively monitor my posts here, on Facebook, and on my own personal website, FERNANDORUIZEVERYBODY.COM (Which everyone here should visit regularly and bookmark if you haven't already!) I've blocked a few people but I know for a fact that they still keep tabs on me. I really don't care. I've been pretty open and honest about everything. They're EXTREMELY thin-skinned about negative criticism and their own reputation.

Fernando also apparently has a story in an upcoming comic:

Yep! Thanks for the mention. Make sure your LCS' order this one, Folks! It's going to be good!

Fernando Ruiz is my favorite Archie artist on all the major characters and even the secondary characters.

Thanks, Midge!

Fernando is an icon not only in Archie comics, but in comics in general. It is a damn shame that they showed him the door. I have the digest that is shown on the 1st post with the story and as usual Fernando did great work.

Thanks, Midge!

Just received World of Archie Jumbo Comics #60 and they are featuring a reprint of part 1 of a 2 parter Man from Riverdale from the amazing Fernando Ruiz. Part 2 will be in World of Archie #61 coming in August!

Hmm... That was a four part series. I guess they're consolidating that into two REALLY big parts. Part 2 isn't out until August? Ugh!

I guess they're at the point where they're starting to put all of those twenty-page stories we did in the 32-page books about five years ago into the digests now. Those stories are going to eat up a lot of real estate in those books. I remember being told five years ago "The five page story is dead." I thought that was crazy! The five-page story is Archie's bread and butter! With these twenty-page stories you're looking at getting about five stories per issue!

All About Archie / Re: Archie Gets Funding

It's very, very telling that news of these investors breaks so quickly after the news that the Riverdale pilot has been picked up by the CW. Undoubtedly, the investors' commitments hinged on whether or not this happened.

I've seen enough Shark Tank that I'm not naive enough to believe these investors suddenly want to get into the comic book business. I doubt very much they are interested in Classic Archie or anything much other than a speedy return on their investment.

My guess is Archie is going to use this influx of cash to launch a few more high profile projects with more "big name" creators. That coupled with a newly launched series will give Archie Comics the illusion of relevance and potential success and make the whole place easier to be sold.

It's like flipping houses. Buy a dump. Pump enough money into it to patch up a few holes and throw some paint on the walls. Then sell the whole place and get your money out of it.

Also Fernando said something about how he had ghost written (used another name?) some stories for ACP after this one so we may see those eventually.

I ghost-wrote those scripts for another Archie comics writer-artist. It shouldn't be too hard to figure out who that is! I think they might be close to coming out very soon.

Archie Comics, of course, now hates me because unlike Dan DeCarlo and Stan Goldberg, after they drove me out, I didn't conveniently drop dead. In a very petty move, they said I could no longer ghost-write for them anymore.

They have a horrible, horrible reputation for their treatment of their talent. Trust me. Every bit of it is deserved.
