I know that there's a new "classic" style B&V story appearing in June's B&V Double Digest, where they meet a genie, called "Sand-Wishes". It made me wonder if there was any other B&V stories where the girls meet a genie. I mean there's been so many versions of this type of story in all forms of media, they've had to have had this happen before at some point, right?
There's a story called Genie Hi-Jinx on Betty and Veronica Spectacular #3 (also reprinted in B&V DD #113)where Betty and Veronica have just seen a movie called "Aladdin, That Arabian Dude" and they they see an old lamp at an antiques shop and Veronica likes it because it reminds her of the movie, so she buys it. They take it home and she rubs the lamp and out comes a genie named Horace. Anyway, Veronica wishes to have Archie as her servant to do everything she says (and to me that is a wasted wish since Archie already is her servant ::) ), so Betty goes to the antique shop and buys another lamp and out comes a female genie and of course Betty wishes to have Archie, and there starts a war of zapping and re-zapping Archie from one girl to the other.

That story sounds hilarious! I'll have to buy that digest. It's too good to pass up! Thanks, 60sBettyandReggie [emoji3]

It is a funny story! And I found it funny that there is also another story in that same Double Digest
and in the BV Spectacular where the girls are going to sell their lamps at the Riverdale High Flea Market ;D That story is not about the lamps anymore, but they do mention them at the beginning.

I wonder if Archie Comics did that on purpose or if they're trying to mess with the readers to see is we'd notice the connection? Either way, I can't wait to read it!

I think it was both-on purpose for us to notice the connection. They even wrote the word "lamps" in bold letters. ;)
There's a Josie and the Pussycat's story about a genie as well — and I'm sure I remember a Sabrina one too ...
It couldn't be this one, could it?

^ ^ I just read the synopsis for that issue, it sounds interesting. I hope I can come across that issue some day.

The Betty Cooper, Betty Cooper stories always sounded so epic. It's hard to believe that they were part of classic Archie. Or even never made into a current "New Riverdale" or "Archie Horror" series.

I wouldn't rule out seeing similar elements crop up on RIVERDALE. Might be tough to recognize given all the arbitrary changes in character and relationships... Probably no genies, though. But maybe some of the darker/weirder aspects of BCBC.
Cruising old digests tonight I found another genie story called "Power Failure" featuring Betty and a genie. He doesn't look like a stereotypical Aladdin genie and he pops out of a flashlight to grant wishes. His name is ironically "Flash." It's from Betty and Veronica Annual Digest #16 but the art looks 1960's. I haven't seen it on comics.org so I'll post it up on there.
