  • DeCarlo Rules: Presumably with an ongoing B&V series, they'd want to keep it nominally in continuity with the ongoing ARCHIE title.

  • DeCarlo Rules: Oh, I hadn't noticed that the story is "Senior Year", so that explains it. It's a one-off story arc, just like "Freshman Year". They're not going to keep them as seniors permanently, or have them graduate and go on to college in an ongoing series.

  • DeCarlo Rules: It seems like they put extras on a disc because people expect them, or it helps drive sales, but more often than not, it seems like very little thought goes into the content. Of course there are some examples where the extras are exceptional, but usually that's not the case.

  • irishmoxie: I love digital movies and streaming. I usually get the Blu-ray Disc because I like to watch the extras the first time and then end up adding the digital code online or rip it and put it on the hard drive. Just much more convenient to stream it then search for the disc when I want to watch it.

  • DeCarlo Rules: On the other hand, maybe I should just bypass the Blu-Ray format altogether, buy a huge terabyte HD, and download everything. There's something to be said for that, in that you can get everything quicker and stacks of Blu-Ray cases aren't taking up space in your house, I guess.

  • DeCarlo Rules: This coming from a guy who still hasn't capitulated to the inevitable domination of Blu-Ray. It's getting to the point where I might have to relent, since I've seen some anime sets being released for the first time on Blu-Ray (no combo pak) with NO release of a DVD version.
    August 27, 2018, 03:09:15 pm
  • DeCarlo Rules: I'll never get used to people not being able to wait a few days when they order stuff online. I guess maybe I could understand it IF it were something that there was no other way to see, but I assume you've already seen the episodes.  People who are that impatient usually don't even buy disc sets, they just buy it digitally or stream it.

Hello, Citizens of Riverdale!
« on: July 23, 2017, 02:07:47 pm »
Hi everyone! I'm an 18 year old guy from Dallas, TX! I've visited this website several times over the years (I'm 18), but finally decided to make an account. I first stumbled upon Archie around 7 years ago when my mom brought a box filled with them home that she found by the side of the road, and I've been hooked ever since! Yesterday I just finished Riverdale Season 1, which I enjoyed but had some problems with (still going to see season 2 though!)

General info:
My favorite comics are the Frank Doyle/Harry Lucey ones hands down, but Samm Schwartz isn't far behind.
I do read the "New Riverdale" comics, but feel that the reason Archie is so good is because of the comedy. Thus I think that dramatic events such as Over the Edge would have more of an impact if the new Archie was more lighthearted, rather than mostly serious.

Enjoyed Riverdale but thought the killer was disappointing. Also - I really believe that an "Archie's Weird Mysteries" version of Riverdale could work super well if they play their cards right and slowly made the series supernatural. They could introduce Sabrina, and then have some Weird Mysteries throwback episodes if they wanted to, which I would love!

That's about all for me! Can't wait to add to some of these threads!

Oh, and Jughead is the best character of course!

Well, he's the best male character. Hands down. Not even close. I think I'd rate the Boldman/Lindsey version as #1, with a tie for 2nd place between Samm Schwartz and Fernando Ruiz. All three versions are slightly different characters. Dan Parent's version would rate higher probably, if he'd done more Jughead solo stories, but I haven't seen all that many crop up. I don't know what I'm going to do now that JUGHEAD & ARCHIE digest is cancelled. Probably have to start buying more back issues, if I can find them.

What kind of monster tosses a box of Archie Comics on the side of the road?

It's crazy, I know! There were like 20-30 digests in the box, and they decided to just throw them all away!

I'm trying to visualize some sort of situation where they were bungee'd to some roof or trunk rack on a car (or maybe a motorcycle or scooter?), but even that seems pretty unlikely...

Yeah, my guess was that it was a "parents threw it out after the kids grew up" kind of situation, but who knows.

I guess when you said "found by the side of the road" I was visualizing something like... by the side of the road out in the middle of nowhere. I guess if the road was in front of a house, and the curb is where you'd put out garbage for pickup, then the "parents threw them out" theory makes the most sense.

Yeah it wasn't as strange as finding them abandoned in a field or something... Now that would be really weird!

Well, Texas is really big. So in my imagination, at least, that includes a lot of miles of roads that don't run past the front lawns of houses, where boxes could fall off the back of pickup trucks or something like that.

Point taken. I've never been to Dallas, and so I don't have much of a mental image of that city, particularly what a typical residential area looks like. Just what I tend to see on TV shows, which is like a helicopter flyover of the downtown area.

Haha yeah it's a fairly boring city, so by not visiting you're not missing out on much
