Fanfic:Jughead and Betty
« on: March 04, 2007, 04:39:06 PM »
This a story dedicated to Ginny. I promised myself to do this for her. I'm just not sure how I'm going to put this out, but no one's personality will be changed in this fanfic. I'm just posting a small part for now. I'm not sure how you would react at first, so just tell me if I should continue...

Chap. 1

The shrill alarm woke up the exhausted blonde. It was 7:30 and Betty knew she would be late for school. She struggled to get ready and ran out the door, not sure if she forgot anything or not. She got in the school as soon as the tardy bell rang and ran to Mrs. Grundy's history class. As she was about to get in the door slamed in her face.
"Ms. Cooper?"
"Hi, Ms. Grundy."
"Are you okay? If you got here any later, you know it would be automatic detention."
"Yes, I'm okay. I just slept a bit later than expected."
"Make sure you don't next time."
Veronica snickered. Jughead gave her an evil look.

A bit later, Betty headed to her locker to get her gym clothes out.
"Betty, those shorts are SO not you."
"They're comfortable, Ron. Sometimes comfort does come before fashion."
"I'd rather that be the other way around."
"How about those shoes that were too big for your feet?"
Veronica jerked around to find Jughead, who was chomping down on a banana, staring her in the face.
"Well, that was another time."
"Another time of complete embarrassment!"
"Listen, needlenose! You don't have even a hint of fashion existing inside of you...."

.."and that's a fact!"
"So what? I'm not a guy who's into fashion, even the ones for guys. So if you excuse me, your majesty, I'm going to next class before the bell rings in-let's say-one and a half minutes?"
"See ya!"
He dashed down the down the hall leaving, a raged Veronica at her locker.

At noon, bunches of students were already on their way to the crowded cafeteria. Betty found herself getting bustled by some of the students as she made her daily trek to the lunchroom. As she got in, she recognized the smell:tacos and salad, along with some other foods, only she could distinguish them from the others.
"Hi, Betty."
"Oh, hi Archie."
"So, are you ready for our date tonight?"
"Am I?" She envisioned her & Archie in her mind.
"Uh, Betty?"
"Oh, yeah. I'm ready, Archie."
"Remember! Six o' clock."
"You really think he's going to go on the date, don't you?"
Betty turned around. Jughead was staring at her, a frown of displeasure on his face.
"Oh, Juggie. I trust Archie. I really think he was serious about this one."
"Are you sure, Bets? I'm just not sure.."
"Oh, c'mon, Jug. He'll be there to pick me up."
"Okay, but don't forget all the times he didn't because of Veronica."
He left her, alone in the lunchroom. She began to worry about what he said.
Maybe he's right. What if Archie doesn't show up? No, Betty Cooper. You know he's going to show up, or is he?
End of Chap. 1

Aww, thanks for dedicating this to me *blushes*. Fantastic work thus far. The personalities and character interaction is very well portrayed. You've captured who they are very well and I look forward to reading more.

Sorry for the delay, guys.

Chap. 2

Betty lied down on her couch in the living, pondering on what Jughead said.
Jughead can' be right. He just can't be. I know Archie's going to pick me up tonight. He told me nothing would stand in the way...
Her cell phone rang.
"Hi, Betty."
I hope this isn't about our date. I hope this isn't...
"Hi, Archie."
"Listen, it's about our date tonight.
I knew it. I just knew it. Please don't break for that darn Veronica. Please don't! Anything but that...
"Mr. Lodge called me and told me to go and take Veronica out. He has some business to take care of tonight. When I told her that I have a date with you, she asked me to call you up and..."
That's just the kind of thing she'd want me to do. I could go, but from past experience all Veronica would do would be to flirt with Archie, preventing me to spend time with him. So I won't. However, that's means I won't get to spend time with Archie. Either way, I'm losing out and she's winning...
"see if you were coming. So do you wanna go?"
"No, Archie. It's okay."

sorry to say, ginny, but I wasn't done with that chapter.

"But, Betty, are you sure?"
"Yes, I'm sure."
She hung up.

The next day, Betty walked into the school, her face full of misery.
She turned around to see Jughead, a frown of displeasure on his face as he chewed his candy bar.
"Hi, Jug."
"Don't telll me Arch turned you down again."
"He did, Juggie."
Jughead scowled.
"That's what I hate about Arch. He takes you, uses you for what he needs, then tosses you aside like a dishrag."
"Yeah, maybe he does."
"Betty, don't worry about it. He may see the light, soon.I hope.
"He probably will, Juggie."

Later, Betty was getting some school books out of her locker.
"Betty, that looks so much better. Did you make that?"
"It's something I bought, Ron."
"Good. What's wrong? Wait, I know! You turned down Archie from your date last night."
"You're right, Ron."
"How sweet! I really wanted you to go."I'm glad you didn't go!
"That's alright, Ron. I'll see you at lunch."
"See ya later."
Veronica's fake smile faded. I know what she's trying to do. Betty trying to get a date with Archie that I don't know about! I know! I'll set her up with a date with Jughead. Then I can have Archie all to myself...

End of Chap. 2

I'm going to see if I can start Chap. 3 later.

Hey, thanks. For some reason, it's hard not to put to be continued before each chapter is done.

Chap. 3

Veronica stepped outside into the cool air. It was lunch and all the students were out conversing behind the school.
I need to put my plan to work. Hmmm... I wonder which would one of my victims would come out first, Jughead or Betty?
"Hi, Ronnie."
"Oh, hi Archie."
The pair laid down on the lawn behind the school.
"So, what's happening?"
"It's horrible! I've got a big test in Ms. Grundy's class, I have pop quiz tomorrow..."
"No, not that! I mean, after school."
"Well, I have al ittle homework, but as for the rst of the day, I'm free."
"Would you like to go tonight?"
Archie's eyes lit up with love.
"Sure, honeybun.I'd love to go!"
"I knew you would."

Veronica got up from where Archie was sitting and looked around.
This is crazy!Where are they? They should be here by now.

Out side of the lunchroom, Betty slid the wall in the hallway. Jughead sat down beside her.
"Jughead, I'm sorry. I was wrong. I..."
"It's okay, Betty. Just don't prevent yourself from eating because of it."
"Jughead, it's okay. Go ahead."
"You said you were hungry."
"Jughead please..."
The two stared at each other. Betty got up and headed to the lunchroom with Jughead close behind her. Veronica entered spotting the pair going over to the lunch line.
There they are. Now, how can I get them apart...
She waited until both of them had got out of the lunch line and went outside.
"Hi, Jughead!Hi, Betty."
"Oh, hi Ron."
"Hey, Ron."
"Betty, can I speak to you alone for a moment?"
"Sure.Be right back, Juggie."
The pair headed over to the lone giant oak tree away from the groups of conversing students.
"I've arranged something for you."
"A dream date."
Betty perked up."With Archie?"
"No, with someone else."
"I think you better use you mom's e-mail address that he won't recognize you, but wait until he contacts you first."
"You're welcome."
Veronica dashed over to where Jughead was sitting and quickly grabbed his hand. Jughead stumbled along.
"What are you doing?"
"Shhh! I've arranged something for you."
"A dream date."
"A DREAM DATE?! No way, no how!"
"No, it's not with Ethel. I promise!"
"Are you sure?"
"Yes. Here's her e-mail address." Veronica handed him a piece of paper with Mrs. Cooper's e-mail address on it."Make sure you contact her first with a different e-mail address that so she won't recognize you. Okay?"
"Well, okay. Thanks."
"No prob."
Veronica smiled to herself. My plan is working perfectly. Soon, I'll have Archie all to myself...

Later, Betty was on her mom's e-mail account when she recieved an e-mail from who "dream date(Jughead)". It read:

'Hey, let's set this up now so we won't have to rush. Time and place, please?'

She responded.

'Let's say 6:00 at the movies.'

She pressed Send and a few minutes later received this:

'Sounds good to me. Let's decide on the movie when we meet.'

Chap. 4

Betty puckered her lips to make sure her lipstick was on right. She wanted to make sure that her date actually liked the way she looked. She took a glimpse in the mirror at her clothes, making sure that they weren't too dressy or too casual.
That's gotta sure enough to suit him. I hope.

At the same time, Jughead took a look at his appeareance. Getting out any stains he could off his face, he headed for the door.
I hope this is sure enough to suit her.

Veronica and Archie squinted as the blew through their hair while they drove along toward the movie theater.
"Oh, Archie. Isn't this the best date ever?"
"It sure is, honeybun."

Moments later, Betty arrived at the movie theater. She saw Jughead standing on the curb, glancing at his watch.
"Who are you waiting for, Jug?"
"My "dream date" as Veronica called it. She..."
"Wait. She gave you a dream date?"
"She gave me one, too."
"This is weird."
"Did she tell you to e-mail her?"
"Yeah. She even gave me her e-mail address and told me to e-mail her first.Just use an address other than mine to do it."
"What is her e-mail address?"
"That's the address I used to e-mail him! His is"
"That's my dad's!I used that to e-mail..." He stopped.
"...set us up!"

Veronica pulled in a parking space in the front of the movie theater. She and Archie got out of the car. She looked up to see Jughead and Betty.
"Um, Archie, let's go somewhere else. I've decided not to go."
"Why? I thought you wanted to see the movie..."
"I do, I do! It's just that I've decided not tonight. We can do it tommorrow!"
She started sweating as Archie started to drag her along, for he was unaware of who was in front of him.
"Ron, are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm okay."
"Then why are you looking..."
He looked in front of him to see a crying Betty in the arms of an angry Jughead. He looked up to see Archie and Veronica coming toward him. Archie ran up.
"Guys, what are doing-?! Betty, what's wrong?"
"What did she do?"
"She set us up!"
Veronica glared at the angry pair."That's not true! Archie, they're lying! They want to..." She thought up a quick alibi."...they're in love and they don't want you to know!"
Archie glared at Jughead, who had let go of Betty, who stood right beside him. "Arch, listen. We were set up by Veronica on a dream date. We didn't know that she set us up at first. I'm..."
"Save it, Jug."
Jughead's face saddened.
"I can't believe this. Why didn't you tell me that you two were in love?"
"Archie, that's not true..."
"Then why are you here?"
"Veronica set us up on a dream date so she could be with you!"
Archie glared at Jughead and then looked at Veronica. "Who are you going to believe Archiekins? Me or them?"
Archie took one last look at the pair. He then walked off with Veronica. Betty began bawling and flung herself into an almost raged Jughead's arms. He took her into the movie theater, his mind racing furiously.

End of Chap.4
