I'm hearing things...

First of all both CNN and MSN.com ran stories about this last week.

Second, this will be a six-issue mini series, I'm assuming it will be made into a trade paperback.

Third, I've heard some rumors/spoilers that explains the 6 issues. I won't mention it here, but if you have to know, send me a PM and I'll give up what I've got so far.

Can't decide if I'm pleased or annoyed, assuming the rumors are true....

It was all over msn.com, so all I can say is...I don't know.

Archie is going to marry an arrogant, spoiled little princess-type Barbie doll who SUCKS every single penny out of his moth-filled wallet EVEN though she herself is LOADED! The poor boy might as well marry Paris Hilton; his fate will be the same.

Betty is obviously a BETTER choice for Archie, who unfortunately doesn't feel the same way for her (in fact, many, many older stories show Archie and Betty as happily married couple with a whole bunch of playing look-alike kids at their feet, BTW. That even happened in Little Archie, too!)

Even worse, poor Archie is going to stay a teenager until the end of the times, so his eternal IMMATURITY will stop him from seeing what a nice person Betty really is and instead make him only see the ravishing beauty that self-centered Veronica is.

So well...Archie is better off divorced and dumped in the poorhouse to be rescued by sweet-natured Betty who would then MARRY him than Archie marrying Betty and then having affairs with Veronica behind her back.

I said this in the shoutbox, and I'll say it here, the only really redeeming quality the guy talking (who looked a bit Archie-ish) gave for Betty was that, "She can fix your car" ... PFFFFffffft!! <- raspberries a plenty!

true dat! i was actually yelling to my computer screen hearing him saying that, "shut up, learn how to fix your own car!"

and yet archie never actually sees betty as an equal or as girlfriend, beside someone who can fix his car....for FREE. i just hope when archie is gonna propose (either betty or veronica), i hope she'd say NO.

i really doubt this is the end of the love triangle.  and even if it is the end, I really doubt he would pick veronica.  i mean, if archie were a real guy it's possible he would pick veronica because she's hot, he likes her more than betty, he's stupid, and she likes him.  but I can't see the archie people being that cruel to betty.  there's a twist, i'm sure.

a few ideas of what it could be:

he's practicing proposing to betty and veronica is helping him.  this could be why he's actually proposing in the ring shop, and not some where else more romantic.  or veronica is helping him pick out the ring for betty and is saying yes to the ring.   thus, it's a big misunderstanding.  of course, veronica would have to be over him at this point. i'm  not sure if this would make 6 issues worth.  maybe veronica is helping him pick out HER OWN ring for that wedding. I wouldn't be surprised.

he'll change his mind at the end and go for Betty.  that would be completely wrong of him and of betty if betty says yes.

both mutually decide they're not the one for eachother or not ready.  Archie ends up going for betty.  hopefully not too soon after but like 3 years later. or if he doesn't go for betty the love triangle continues (which would just be wrong, considering two of the three were engaged, but I wouldn't put it past these crazy kids).  apparently there is supposed to be a wedding though.  I imagine it will either be moose and midge or jughead and a hamburger.  I mean, come on!  it had to happen sometime!

last scenario:  it's a dream.  this could end with either him picking betty after he wakes up and realizes she's the one for him, or he realizes he's not ready to marry...and the love triangle ensues.  my money's on this one, actually.

i don't really want betty to end up with Archie. mostly because she's so into him but he keeps her on a string.  he likes veronica a lot more, he goes crawling to betty because he knows he always has a date if he needs one.  well, that's my opinion.  I admit, though he hasn't been as bad lately, he doesn’t ignore her as much as in the older comics.  I've been feeling the archie/betty vibes strongly lately.  I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up in a twist and he really ends up with betty. (and darn it! i really do want betty/reggie! but I pretty much know it won't happen).

 i'm still more inclined to think the wedding won't happen at all and the triangle will still continue.  I just can't see it ending.  I'd actually be disappointed either way, actually.  the triangle is the bloodline of this comic.  and i'd feel sorry for betty if he picks Ronnie, or even vice versa.  besides, if archie does get married to one of them, but they continue to do comics with them as teens stuck in a love triangle...the love triangle will lose it's luster.  another one of the reasons I don't want him to marry either...could it signify the end of archie comics?

but I could be wrong.  maybe the doof will pick veronica.  but that would be comic suicide.  (at least it would open the door for betty/reggie)

if this were real life, I think betty should get over him.  I think she should learn that she shouldn’t chase after a boy who strings her along.  However, an engagement would be too cruel of a lesson.  And a part of me wants Betty to win, since I like her better.  And another part of me knows it should be archie/betty.  I just prefer her with Reg.

okay, true there are good storylines regardless.  but I still think it's a big part of archie.  they don't always sit well with me either, but it would just be weird without the love triangle...but that's just my opinion

true...but the love triangle is going to be way different now we that we know who he's marrying.
