  • Tuxedo Mark: Just looked at Archie Comics' subsciption page. Archie Meets Batman '66 is a six-issue miniseries. Archie 1941 is a five-issue miniseries. There's a six-issue subscription for Betty and Veronica: Friends Forever and Vixens (surprisingly; might get transferred to the new B&V title) and a twelve-issue subscription for Riverdale. Riverdale Digest isn't listed, so it looks like it's been cancelled.

  • CAPalace: They're banking on Archie 700 to sell a lot because "lol a new number wow lol" and it will for the first issue but it'll just go back to the average/poor numbers it had before. And YOU KNOW with that writer on B+V it's going to turn into an anti-men, oooh girl power lol violence against men and demeaning men is feminism and fun lol lol Good luck. I'll stick to Ebay to find the DeCarlo stuff thanks.

  • Tuxedo Mark: I'm looking forward to the new B&V series. Personally, I think that previous B&V series by what's-his-name was way worse than anything that Rotante wrote on Vixens.
    July 09, 2018, 08:43:47 PM
  • DeCarlo Rules: So, so predictable... they love to exploit NUMBERS, whether it's a single digit (1 or 0) or a triple-digit ending in 00. Good lord, I can't believe they're actually giving Jamie Rotante ANOTHER B&V series to write ruin! She is the worst I've read -- although it's a tough call, Marguerite Bennett was pretty horrible as well. Nick Spencer can actually be quite good as a writer... or pretty bad, depending on the character and the direction. He was great on ANT-MAN and SUPERIOR FOES OF SPIDER-MAN (both books that had a strong humorous subtext), and not so hot on CAPTAIN AMERICA and THE AVENGERS. And he's he new writer on (yet another) first issue of THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, so I wouldn't guess the ARCHIE gig will last. ACP could probably only afford to hire him for that ONE issue, #700.

    July 05, 2018, 03:09:04 AM
  • DeCarlo Rules: I guess there's still THE HUNGER and VAMPIRONICA, but they're still so new that it's hard to think of them as "ongoing".
    July 05, 2018, 12:14:16 AM
  • DeCarlo Rules: So both ARCHIE and RIVERDALE are "on hiatus"? That means ACP has no ongoing floppy comic titles. Not a good sign. Good thing they still have the digests going (knock on wood).
    July 05, 2018, 12:12:47 AM
  • Vegan Jughead: I'm sure it has been; it was a dumb concept LOL.  The RIVERDALE comic is on hiatus until at least early 2019 and I'm skeptical it will ever come back.

Riverdale episode 10: The Lost Weekend
« on: April 14, 2017, 10:32:48 AM »
It's Jughead's birthday as Betty tries to throw him a small, nice party--which is ruined by the two main villains of the show. Archie is depressed that not only is he and Valerie through but his parents are finally getting their divorce finalized. Veronica must come to terms with how ruthless her father can be. And Midge has to come to terms that she is non corporeal and that's okay.

Okay I know it's not right to start random musing with preview at the end...but Riverdale is too dangerous and CHICAGO is the better option!??

That's right, I was right as Cheryl teams up with Chuck to cause trouble just because they are both evil jerks who everyone hates, so why not?

I'm really enjoying Bughead as they are both damaged people who are decent human beings who have found each other and have connected. Jughead doesn't think he can be who Betty deserves and Betty thinks she has to be perfect. In the end they realize what they are. Honestly, I thought they were going to break up but Poppa Jones actually was a parent for a good ten seconds.

EEEEE Jughead took his hat off for Betty!!! EEEEE

I mean, Poppa Jones wasn't a parent for the entire kegger party, but hey, he's an alcoholic, thief, and possible murderer. Let's not hold him to too high of standards.

It looks like The Lodge Family has something on the Blossom family as they have forced the red hair clan to pay them a large amount of money every month--for seventy-five years!!! I'm guessing Great grandpa Lodge has evidence showing Great Grandpa Blossom killing Not as Great Cooper. Probably on VHS or something. That was around back then, right?

Speaking of Hiram, he hears that Veronica won't testify that he's a good human being--so he threatens to take down Hermoine with him unless Veronica says exactly what he wants!! Humanitarian of the years, folks.

Veronica: Smithers, is my mom good?

Smithers: A saint.

Veronica: What about my father?

Smithers: He's evil incarnate and has committed acts of cruelty that have made the world an irreversible worse place. I found religion solely on the need to believe there is a hell waiting for him.

Smithers: Oh, and how was school today, miss?

Veronica: ...

I think I might move Chuck up on my "going to get killed" list since he punched the son of a the local gang leader with said gang leader in the room and throwing him out.

And it looks like everyone is starting to get sick of Cheryl as the cheerleaders side with Veronica and even her two newly unemployed henchwomen/ vixens don't even vote for her. I guess it doesn't help that if you breath the wrong way this crazy psycho red head tries to ruin your life. To paraphase a horrible C Reiley movie "THE WRONG TWIN DIED THAT DAY."

To deal with getting dumped and his parents divorce Archie gets drunk before the birthday party and then gets drunk even more during the kegger party. And he even drunk dials his dad after the worst bit of camera work ever on the show thus far.

I like how even Poppa Jones acknowledges that the kids are the ones he needs to worry about.

And he probably feels a lot worse now that so much more information was given out during Cheryl and Chuck's revenge fest.

Joaquin: They're going to find out--they're going to know!

Jones: No they won't.

Cheryl: ...Did you know that Lodge hired the Serpents to ruin the theater?

(Joaquin gives Jones a death glare)

(Jones takes a sip of his beer)

Jones: Meddling kids.

...Actually, come to think of it, it really wasn't that good of a revenge. I mean, yeah, you told about Archie banging Ms. Grundy...but that'll only make him more popular. Veronica nailed Cheryl with the the twincest and killiing her own brother. And in the end, the characters ended up in a better place with Bughead stronger after dealing with issues  and Veronica needed to get some anger out of her system. Heck, Cheryl gave the teens more pieces to the puzzle of the murder of Jason.

...

Wow. Cheryl is a horrible villain. She doesn't succeed at anything! I mean, yeah, she's snarky and gets in good lines, but that's all she is!

Turns out that Alice Cooper used to be a Serpent.

Also Mr. Weatherbee decides it's okay for her to advise on the Blue and Gold because...eh. Whatevers.

She also caught Joaquin talking with Poppa Jones and she told Betty. Yep, Jones, those kids are the ones you have to worry about. BIG TIME.

And Archie and Veronica might be a thing. Well, it's a huge upgrade over Valerie. I swear, there should be a rule about bad Dan Parent ideas staying in one medium only.

Veronica decides to tell the world how great her dad is and he rewards her with a pearl necklace. That's good because she broke the last one out of grief about the parent of a friend who attempted suicide because of him.

Veronica decides to join up with Bughead and crazy mom to investigate what is going on. So yeah, that makes three of the four main characters now in the interesting storyline while Archie...

I dunno, there's about four episodes left in the season so he'll probably be with six different girls, mope about his music, and whine about his parents while occasionally showing his abs. See, I never got the hate for comic Archie, but this guy. Yeah. I get that hate.

Anyway this was a very good episode. The only thing I can say I hated was The Archie drunk camera thing they were going for as it looked really stupid. No episode next week as...there's a gamer contest??

Okay, what's up with these video game tournament shows? TBS has one and now CW? You know what I do when I want to see someone play video games? I go on youtube and watch Markiplier.

So Cheryl and Chuck's big revenge with (to paraphrase Jughead) "horrible repercussions" was...to crash Jughead's birthday party and get everyone to dish on each other. Ooh, evil! Yeah, no, it sounds like they actually did everyone a favor by getting everything out in the open.

During Veronica and Cheryl's competition, right after Cheryl starts her routine, it looks like Betty is checking them out.

LOL at:

Betty: "Dilton Doiley plays with guns."
Cheryl: "Well, Doiley's a psychopath. We all know that."
Betty just kind of nods like "Okay, point."

Riverdale drops another tenth as it dips down to 0.87 million viewers for the first time. Its the second week in a row the audience shrinks by a tenth.

It'll probably drop a bit more  because next week there's going to be some sort of video game contest show and then when it comes back: The NFL draft.

Sorry, Riverdale, but The Titans have two first round picks. :)

But it's already been renewed for season two so the worse that can happen is it gets moved to Friday night.

I personally know a ton of people waiting for it to get to Netflix.  The show is being watched all over the world too.

Pretty sure season 2 will be the last, but glad the CW renewed it.  It deserved it.  It's been great.

If you don't like the show, just stick to reading the old comics. Hoping for the show to fail contributes nothing positive to the world.

I do continue reading the old comics. I love them (not the reboot, though).
And the show contributes something positive to the world?
You guys may like the show, but I don't (a lot of people don't). And just as you are allowed to go gaga over the show, I too am allowed to make known my dislike for it.

I really enjoyed this latest episode. Though Molly Ringwald's contribution was too short.

Nobody will forget that you hate the show. You never quit talking about it. Stop being such a buzz-kill for those who want to discuss the show. Please. I mean, start another thread. Contribute to another thread. Talk about the stuff that you like instead of bringing down threads by others about things that they like.

I'm sorry, is there a rule here where it says that we are not allowed to say anything negative about things we don't like? Are we only to be politically correct on this forum? If a person likes something they can post about it as many times as they want but if someone dislikes something they can't say anything about it because it hurts other people's feelings?

Ah yes. "Political correctness." The term one uses to dismisss complaints of rudeness or negativity. No matter. Be as negative as you want.

Things I enjoyed about the episode:

1. The Cheryl/Veronica dance off! I like how Cheryl is losing her queen bee status. She fired Tina and Ginger. Which made me wonder: Do you think they pull a friendship salary from her? Wouldn't be unheard of.

2. Learning that Alice was once a Southside Serpent. That lady has secrets. She's also got keen instincts. She's the only one wondering why a Southside Serpent (Joaquin) would date the sherriff's son. Good question!

3. The truth or truth game was also fun at the party. It was good to get some of those secrets out in the open. And Veronica still managed to knock Cheryl down a few pegs. And good on Jughead for fighting back for Betty against Chuck!

Plus Veronica's got her pearls back again!

Fun stuff. Fun party. Looking forward to Molly Ringwald in two weeks!

Gee, thank you for giving me your permission ::)
I'm done anyway. Maybe I'll come back again when that crappy show comes to an end, who knows. Good bye.

I understand they've started writing Season 2. They better hurry! There's a writers' striking looming that could potentially delay production and consequently the premiere of the second season.

As recent weeks have shown, this show doesn't do well after an absence. Whatever momentum it has could be derailed forever.

With or without a delay, the show doesn't have ratings momentum.  Either way, I'm sure the second season will get made.  Then hopefully it will be released on DVD.  The show has a huge cult following that will buy those.  I never buy DVDs but I would definitely buy RIVERDALE on DVD.
