0-day so I've read (so far):

  • Spidey #4
  • Spider-Gwen #7
  • The Unbelievable Gwenpool #1
Saving Princeless book 5 #1 for last ...

I liked princeless book 5 #0 even though it was more of a prequel.

How's gwenpool?

Still on the fence with this show, with Jason killed off so soon and other characters race-lifted for no reason. A brown-eyed Cheryl would be the deal breaker, but if they give Cheryl's actress green contacts, I'll give the show a chance.

Reggie's actor is a questionable choice, but not because he's Asian. His jaw is shaped more like Archie's jaw than Reggie's jaw.

Daren is that you? Someone made this same comment on the old forum about Cheryl's green eyes.

What, I love Chip's.

It just looks like I've seen it too many times before. Leaning against a brick wall has been used on many album covers and movie posters. Also he doesn't draw the girls the prettiest.

Adam Hughes & Chip Zdarsky & Veronica Fish Stephanie Buscema & Cliff Chiang covers would definitely be the ones I want to get.
If I would purchase them and not just get the digital one. I'd get the Adam Hughes, Stephanie Buscema, and Cliff Chiang ones.

I'd get all of them except Chip's.

They said from the get go that the Kevin Keller reboot was destine for digital and that is the case. I am also very glad that Dan Parent is doing this in the classic art style.

They waffled on it a couple of times. Last summer Dan told me they'd reconsidered and were going to do print as well, then they backpedalled again.

They REALLY want to force people to buy digital comics, don't they? It's that or nothing.
I don't know if that is all completely true about them wanting us to buy digital and leave the rest. I think they'd like more people to buy the hard copies of the Archie and Jughead reboot series as well. It just seems to be declining.

So essentially ACP is slowly but surely becoming a publisher of webcomics, not all that much different than PixieTrix, SitComics, or AstroComix...
I don't know if that is there ultimate plan, but with the way it looks with the reboot series most likely only lasting  few years at most where does that leave ACP other than having the Digests?

Well they only have a handful or less of artists and writers left so in that way it's like a webcomic. From a monetary stand point it makes sense. I often wonder what they do with all those leftover digests every month. I never see them in discount stores like other books. Hopefully they are recycling them.

True, and they may not feel they can afford to pay that many artists this time around.

You can only pull off something like 22 cover variants once in a great while, and get retailers to go for it. (That's not even counting the additional dozen or so Retailer Exclusive variants).  Most of those dealers couldn't afford to speculate like that on even one title every month, because there's 200 other books every month with variant covers out there to think about, too.

I don't think I've been to a comic book store that had all 22 variants except maybe the midtown website. Most just had the same 5 variants of Archie #1.

I'm trying to only buy digital now. I already have an entire room dedicated to comics. I only try to buy physical copies of stuff that isn't easy available digitally. You guys must have giant houses to store all these comics. I suppose you could be constantly getting rid of physical comics as you buy new ones but in my experience you're lucky to get a 1/10 of what you paid in the first place.

"Pops' Chocklit Shoppe is being taken over by a huge coffee company," it reads. "When Betty and Veronica go head-to-head over the issue, all bets are off! Friendships will shatter. Cities will burn. Nails will be broken."

Sounds right up my alley. This is much better than the Jughead and Archie storylines. Hopefully the plot moves along more swiftly too.

If ACP were smart they would have preorder links up ready to go for this and Kevin but who knows? They might cancel that or some of these covers.

I like all the variant covers except Chip's. It looks very 80s to me. I especially like Francesco's and Cliff's covers. Cliff could even draw the Betty and Veronica comic when Adam drops out. Veronica Fish's cover is also very creative and detailed.

I wonder why they decided to keep it in the Classic Archie style.

Dan Parent created the character.  It would take huge stones to tell him to draw it in the new Riverdale style.

I think Dan said awhile ago he had already drawn it he was just waiting for ACP to solicit it. So that's why it's in the classic style.

Keeping with my theme for the day of reading original #1 comics on digital I have read Archie Girls Betty and Veronica.

Are they digitizing these now? Did you find them on the app?
Yes they are. They have all the original #1's including Archie #1, Jughead #1, Betty and Veronica #1, and Archie's Rival Reggie #1.

I hope they continue digitizing Archie's Girls now that the hardcover is canceled.

It makes me wonder why webcomics aren't booming. Though I feel like I have to slog through a lot of crap to get to the good stuff.
They mostly are — you just need the right link and a decent ad block

Haha I meant the stick figure art not the ads.
