Quote from: DeCarlo Rules on February 21, 2019, 12:21:40 PMHelp! POLICE! I've been robbed!! Somebody cleaned out my bank account! I used to be a multimillionaire, but now I'm Only A Poor Old Man. I lost all my karma, too. I'm flat busted. O, woe is me.
Easiest way to get all those credits back is to post and move as many credits as you can to the bank (click "Shop" in the menu above then click "Bank" in the menu above the shoutbox).

Karma doesn't exist anymore. It was completely removed from this version of the forum software.

An Archie Comics cult classic centuries in the making is returning to comic shops in June with the revival of JUGHEAD'S TIME POLICE! The original '90s mini-series, a madcap sci-fi comedy in which Riverdale's champion layabout is tasked with saving all of human history, has long been one of Archie fandom's favorite storylines. In the revamped take, Jughead travels through time to right a food-related wrong that quickly leads to a battle for the timestream itself! Written by Sina Grace (Adventure Time, Iceman) with art by Eisner Award-winning artist Derek Charm (JUGHEAD, The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl), colorist Matt Herms, and letterer Jack Morelli, the wild new mini-series will run for five issues starting June 12, and could continue beyond that if fan response demands it.

"JUGHEAD'S TIME POLICE is a beloved concept that was screaming to be modernized, so once we read Sina's pitch, we knew we were in business," said Archie Comics Co-President Alex Segura. "He honors what came before but gives the idea a much-needed jolt. I can't think of a better artist to bring it to life than Derek, who had a stellar run on the main JUGHEAD title — which kind of feels like a warmup for this!"

Click here to subscribe to the new JUGHEAD'S TIME POLICE series or buy the original series in graphic novel format!

General Discussion / What song are you listening to
February 18, 2019, 10:44:05 PM
Since we can now embed YouTube videos in posts, we might as well have some fun with it. Feel free to tell us what song you're listening to here :)

Currently: Spike Jones and His City Slickers' hilarious sendup of various parts of the opera Carmen.

Just a brief topic to explain some of the new features that came with the upgrade...

You cannot view this attachment.

  • Improved notifications. The notifications feature has been completely overhauled. You can go to the Notifications section of your profile to configure things.
  • YouTube embed. You can now embed YouTube videos directly in your posts. Just click on the YouTube button and paste the ID of the video in the box.
  • Mentions. You can now mention users. Type "@" followed by the first few letters of their name until it pops up then hit enter or click on the name.
  • Improved attachments. There's a new interface and you can insert attachments directly in your post. After uploading the file just click in the post where you want the attachment to go and click "Insert". Attachments can now be uploaded prior to making the post.
  • Drafts. You can now save drafts of PMs and posts if you want to come back to them later. Drafts will be automatically saved every 30 seconds and are kept for up to 7 days. You can manage drafts from your profile.
  • Topic previews. When viewing the list of topics in a board, hover over the subject to see up to the first 256 characters of the last post in the topic.
  • Gravatar support. This makes it easy to use the same avatar on multiple sites among other things.

One more thing. You will need to go into your profile and fix your timezone. Click on your username in the top left corner then click "Look and Layout" and select the appropriate timezone from the list. The forum default is Eastern so if you're on Eastern time you can just select "(Forum Default)". Save the settings once you're done.

Shop mod has returned as well. Unfortunately we had to start from scratch there so everyone's credits have been reset.

Site upgrade is complete. I'm still working on tweaking a few things but everything should be working as expected.

Note that Tapatalk is currently not supported. If/when they upgrade the plugin to support the new version of the forum software, I will add support for that back. However, the new version is mobile-friendly so you should be able to access it from your mobile browser just fine.

Also note that the links section is gone, as is the "Ultimate Profile" (profile comments, etc.) as neither of those addons support the new version. A customized theme will be returning at some point as well.

Announcements / Site Upgrade
February 16, 2019, 12:03:10 AM
Just a heads up to everyone. I'm going to be upgrading the site tomorrow morning/afternoon. The upgrade will bring a new layout and quite a few new features, including native likes and notifications (the current systems are add-ons), improved attachment handling and more. It will also allow the site layout to work with mobile devices without having to use Tapatalk (though I will keep support for that as long as it works with the new version of the forum software).

Note that the upgrade will also result in us using the default theme for a while, but I will work on getting the current one updated as quickly as possible.

The site will be inaccessible for a while during the upgrade, but I don't anticipate this being for more than half an hour.

Feedback/Support / Re: Features

Based on the lack of feedback I'm going to assume that the shop and enhanced profiles aren't all that important...

I'm going to wait until after the holidays to upgrade the forum (and also to allow time for some of the bugs in the newer version to be worked out), but will keep everyone posted about the upcoming changes.

General Comics / Stan Lee has died
November 12, 2018, 02:06:32 PM
Hate to bury this in a sub-board but I really don't know where else to put it since it's not technically related to Archie Comics... Stan Lee has died at the age of 95... Stan Lee Dead at 95

General Discussion / Re: Sears/Kmart
November 10, 2018, 11:57:36 PM
Sears is all but gone in this area now. The one in Florence (Kentucky) is in its final days ("up to 70% off" and store fixtures now on sale). The one in Springdale (Ohio) closed a while back, as did the one in Western Hills. The ones in Northgate and Eastgate are still open but are going to be gone soon as well.

Oddly enough though we do still have two K-Mart stores which keep making it past each new round of closures.

Feedback/Support / Features

I'm starting to plan out a site upgrade/overhaul in the coming weeks/months and wanted to get an idea of what features everyone currently uses. Most of the features we have here will be staying, but a couple of the add-ons I use aren't yet compatible with the new version of the forum software, so I'd like to have an idea of whether I should wait for those to be updated...

1. Shop. This lets you earn points for posting and redeem those points for various items. This one has proven to be popular in the past.

2. Enhanced profiles. This option adds some social options to the profile - the "About Me" section, public list of buddies, profile comments, profile pictures, etc. This also seems to be something that very few are using. This one appears to have been abandoned by the person who wrote it so if it's really important I can look into updating it myself.

Also note that the theme will change with the upgrade, but it shouldn't be too hard to change the colors on it to get something similar to what we have now.

Announcements / Re: FYI: Server Move
July 25, 2018, 03:06:41 AM
Heads up to everyone... I'll be moving the site to a new server again tomorrow night. I am staying with the same host again but moving to a different configuration that allows me to use newer software than what I've currently got. You shouldn't notice any changes, but it might take a day or two for the DNS stuff to update. Like last time I will put the site here in maintenance mode before I do the move so nothing gets lost in the transfer.
