  • DeCarlo Rules: That's pretty much the whole point of having an internet -- it connects you to entertainment, information, and people who would otherwise be too far away from you physically, or would involve much greater effort on your part to connect with. And although there are some advantages for comic book collectors inherent in the direct-market dedicated comic book shop system, the major BIG (obvious) DISadvantage is that only a few thousand of those shops exist, compared to the huge number of retailers who used to carry comic books along with their other products back in the days of the "newsstand distribution system".
    May 07, 2018, 03:35:40 AM
  • Tuxedo Mark: The only "local" comic shop within "reasonable" distance of my house is 18 miles away, in the next county. Yeah, no, I'll continue getting my comics digitally.
    May 06, 2018, 07:39:36 PM
  • DeCarlo Rules: @Archiecomicxfan215 - FCBD comic books may be free to you, but the retailer has to PAY for those comic books he gives away for free. The publishers of the FCBD comics make no profit off them, and they're distributed to retailers by Diamond Comics for free, but they have to charge comic shop owners money for them, because paper and printing costs money. Your local comic shop owner loses a small amount of money with every FCBD comic book he gives away. Of course the whole idea behind FCBD is that sampling those free comic books will create interest in customers actually BUYing the retail versions of those FCBD comic books later on.

Oh, and I guess if you care about that RIVERDALE thing, you could pick up the FCBD issue where Pop Tate eavesdrops on all the conversations of his teenage customers (makes him sound a little creepy, if you ask me...) All About Archie / DIE KITTY DIE HEAVEN & HELL Kickstarter Campaign
« on: May 15, 2018, 07:40:06 PM »
Hi, Everybody!

I just wanted to let everyone know that Dan Parent and I are producing a THIRD volume to our popular independent comic book series, DIE KITTY DIE and we have launched a Kickstarter campaign in order to fund it. As we've often said, we couldn't produce this series without the loyal fans who come out to support us during these campaigns. We appreciate everyone who has donated and helped us get this far.

In addition to supporting this project and securing copies of Die Kitty Die Heaven & Hell for yourself, the Kickstarter campaign is the ONLY place to get some cool fun stuff not available anywhere else. We're currently offering ALL NEW sketchbooks featuring our art. These sketchbooks are not available anywhere else!

We're also holding our exclusive art sales where Dan and I trade select one-of-a-king pieces in return for a pledge to the campaign. Currently, I'm offering the entire Veronica half of Life With Archie magazine #31. This was a key issue in which began events leading up to the famous Death Of Archie storyline. All twenty pages are included in this offer.

Dan and I are also offering the opportunity for personal one-of-kind commissions.

Please check out the campaign and all of our offerings:

Thanks, Everybody! Your support is greatly appreciated! Please help us spread the word!

Fernando

When's the next Kickstarter? Still haven't gotten my commission from the last Kickstarter.

The Die Kitty Die Heaven & Hell Kickstarter launches in very early May 2018.

Dan and I are currently sending out reward packages for our 2017 Kickstarter campaign. Packages are shipping out every week. If you haven't received yours yet, you should very soon. Thanks for hanging in there with us.

The next installment, Die Kitty Die Heaven & Hell, should be available in early Summer 2018.

All right!! Congrats, Mr. Ruiz! 😁  I hope this means you're back? 🤗

Thanks, Sagg.

As far as being back... well.... Like I said at my site, if Nancy has any other stories she'd like me to draw, I'd certainly consider them.

That's great, Fernando! :) Where, exactly, can the story be purchased, and is the digital format viewable on Kindle for PC or Nook for PC?

Click on my link above for details on how to purchase the story. I believe the story will be delivered as a PDF.

All About Archie / Re: "Unknown Artists"
« on: July 10, 2017, 01:52:18 AM »
For many, many years Archie stories went uncredited and there were no records kept as to who did what on these stories.  This was especially the case with artists who didn't produce the volume of work of DeCarlo and Lucey. I know I've been present when the digest production crew's only option was to run certain stories past Victor Gorelick and hope that he remembered who worked on them. For the most part, he usually did!

For some reason, this problem with the credits extended to stories published as recently as the 90's. Occasionally, I was asked to confirm if I'd written or drawn a particular story that there was a question about.

In spite of this, I know mistakes were made and I've seen my name credited with work I haven't done. Most commonly, I'm credited as the writer on stories I haven't written.

Really?  $6.99 for 128 pages?  Good luck with that Archie Comics.

It'll be even more expensive in Canada, Archie's largest market. I think they may end up paying eight or nine dollars for a digest.

News and New Releases / Re: ARCHIE COMICS FOR AUGUST 2017

The only character on that cover I don't recognize is the little girl with brown hair and a topknot wearing a purple swimsuit on a purple raft...

That's Little Audrey.
